24th Annual Moby Dick Scouting Classic a Major Success for Scouts

The Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America hosted 123 golfers at its 24th Annual Moby Dick Scouting Golf Classic on Monday, July 20 at Montaup Country Club in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.

 This year’s tournament successfully raised over $36,000 for Scouting programs in Southeastern New England. Proceeds from the golf tournament will help to provide leadership development programs for the youth in Southeastern New England.

The winning foursome for the tournament was put together by Wolf & Company, a Boston based certified public accounting and business consulting firm.

This year’s title sponsor, St. Anne’s Credit Union, is a longtime supporter of Scouting, with its retired CEO, Jack Ledwidge, being the tournament’s founder and Honorary Chairman. Additional sponsors included AAA Northeast, Fiserv and Gold N’ Things.

“This year’s tournament was one of our most successful yet.  We are so grateful to both our sponsors and the golfers that joined us at Montaup Country Club this year,” said Jack Ledwidge, Vice Chairman of the Board at St. Anne’s Credit Union and former CEO/President.  “It was a terrific day to support the important programs that Scouting offers to our local youth and ensure that more individuals can participate in their leadership programs.”

“The golfers and supporters of this year’s tournament recognize the many benefits that Scouting provides,” said John Mosby, Scout Executive/CEO of the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America.  “Their participation means that we can provide more programs to local youth and promote the key skills taught in Scouting, such as leadership, teamwork, and integrity.”
