A Holiday Gaming Surprise #PS4

Happy thanksgiving everyone!!!! It was a great holiday weekend- I ate 2 thanksgiving dinners this year and played more video games then you can shake a turducken drumstick at!! The PS4 was cranking and the PC was heating up like sausage stuffing inside roasting poultry! But the big winner for me this weekend was a game that I never thought I would like. I know I am very late to the party, but some new interest was stirred after a big update to the game and the release of the IOS and Android versions. The game is Terraria and man, do the hours fly by when you're playing this game!

So this beast of a game is pretty much 2D Minecraft. That means you start with almost nothing and are forced to create a rude hovel of dirt to protect you on the ground whilst you dig deep in the earth like the dwarves of old to find precious metals and construct your invincible empire. What sets the game apart is it as much about developing your character as it is building a great castle. You have to craft armor for yourself like in Minecraft but deep in the earth are treasures you can find that give you superpowers and make you a bad ass! However you will need all the badassery in the world to combat the bosses you can summon and battle the massive random hordes of zombies that spawn on the blood moon.

However, unlike Minecraft, you can feel yourself get more powerful as you get better. You acquire equipment that augments your character and you gain special abilities like double jumps, sprinting- even flying. After 75 hours played over 2 weeks, I can attest that this game has a lot to do. Once you scroll out the map and see the vast scope of the game, you’ll for sure think  “Damn son! This shit is huge!” Huge, but its also so addictive! It has the novelty of forcing you to play just a little longer to try to crack that next cavern wall and see if you find a chest full of magic. It capitalizes on our love of blind packaging just to see whats next, except the whole world is like a case of infinite booster packs! You just keep digging! Suddenly its 4 am and you still want to keep digging.

Lets take a second to talk about the price for all this game. If you catch a steam flash sale its $2.50. That's right $2.50!!!!!!111!! That's really really cheap. That's like not even 2 double cheeseburgers cheap. I could not believe the value of this game.

If you are recently single and have a lot of time to kill get ready to lose a day...or 3 or 5…or you can get your GF/BF to play in a world with you and have heated arguments about who found which chest first. Regardless of how you play, I guarantee Terraria will give you countless hours of enjoyment!
