Dan Martin Welcome back to Comedy on Us! Vol. 27! We finally have reached the legendary age of rock star death. Though we intend to overstay our welcome through many concept albums, best ofs and come back tours. Metaphorically speaking of course. But I digress, we have a great NEW episode planned for our return. We will be off AIR until APRIL 16th though there are some excellent podcasts to catch up on. Plus MORE, below... -See you out there. last week on air...[Listen to episodes!] #44 This week's show takes a somber turn as we learned of David Brockie's death the previous weekend. Lead singer of the gang's favorite band GWAR, passed away this past Sunday. As big fans of GWAR, Dan and Co. do a tribute show to their fallen idol. Joining them in studio is fellow WBOB host of GG Evan McKay along with fellow comedians Kyle Daley, promoting his new show and go mic and showcase and Alli Hanley comes to us from DC to do the podcast and our monthly live show. Mr. Brockie, you will be missed here on the Comic's Corner. Pictured above: Another great "2 Comic Minimum" this Sunday the 30th. Thanks to Alli Hanley for closing it out all the way from DC. We will be back April 27th with another FREE all-star line up. FUN FACT: Our swear jar will be FIVE DOLLARS larger as Dan let a few slip for Dave and played a song or two despite the language. Listen in this week as we pay the toll and try to clean it up a bit. april 16th on and off the air...Jerry Zolten is an American writer, advocator for, and producer of American roots music. An Associate Professor at Penn State University, he is best known as the author of a book tracing the 30-plus year career of the African-American Dixie Hummingbirds gospel group and their influence on both sacred and secular music. He also writes about and is a noted expert on the history of American stand-up comedy. Zolten is also known for numerous articles and CD liner notes on blues, country, and gospel music as well as collaborations on musical projects with Robert Crumb and Harvey Pekar. His most recent writings and musical releases include "The Beatles as Recording Artists" in The Cambridge Companion to the Beatles, biographical and musicological entries on Paramount recording artists for The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records 1917-1927, and Chimpin' the Blues with Robert Crumb and Jerry Zolten, an audio collection of conversation and rare blues and blues related recordings from the early 20th Century. Kevin Budkey is a brand new comic from Pittsburgh, PA. Kevin is still in the open mic stage of his comedy "career" but we took notice of him here on comic's corner when he released a video on youtube stating that he quit his job to pursue stand up comedy. See the video here. Comedians that have been at the process for a while have been in an uproar about his bravado and approach. His friends and community seem very supportive. Overall this should be a fun experience for listeners just breaking in or wanting to break into comedy in their local scenes. Jay Burns, a repeat guest, favorite and contributor to the Comic's Corner, will be dropping in this week to promote a charity he is involved with locally and to perhaps premier a new segment he and Dan have been working on. Special Guest: (Extra Content within) RA Bartlett returns to the Studio to talk about the upcoming season 4 premier of Game Of Thrones! April 6th Evan McKay of GG will be hosting his live screening here in Providence RI. Click for details! We have another action packed Wednesday ready to go! and follow up blog content comeing later in the week to keep your corner fix going.
