By Joe Ferro @FranchiseFerro
This edition of Ferro's Liquid lunch is coming to you a little more kicked up
than usual. Today I'll be talking/typing some whiskey. Now I love myself some beer as fans of The Franchise and
Liquid Lunch will know, but I also love me some whiskey. Today's spotlight is once again from good ole Lil'
Rhody. Sons of Liberty Spirits Company out of South Kingstown, Rhode Island and their Winter Release Pumpkin Spice Whiskey.

After being shut out on this limited batch seasonal last year, I was able to score a bottle this year, Batch 2, bottle 470/750 (each bottle hand numbered) to be precise. After a year of hearing rave reviews I didn't want to set my sights too high since, as I've stated here before, I'm not a huge fan of anything pumpkin.
Even with my inherent distaste for pumpkin flavored anything that, it sure as hell lives up to the hype. The whiskey has a great foggy, amber, rust color, looks like someone stuffed a nice ripe pumpkin in a bottle. You can really smell the fresh, locally grown roasted pumpkins on the nose. For some, whiskey straight up can be a little bit too much, but this fine offering should be enjoyed with nothing more than a glass and some ice or room temperature "neat" ,if you can handle it. When it comes to the taste, OH BOY the taste, great hints of vanilla, orange, cinnamon and clove make this the perfect spirit for when the leaves are changing and the temperature is dropping. This is a great sipping whiskey to enjoy with a nice stew or even an apple pie slice, or pumpkin pie if that's your thing.

A suggestion on the card that comes along with the bottle is a Pumpkin Cider Martini, 2oz of Pumpkin Spice Whiskey, 3oz Fresh Apple Cider, shake all ingredients vigorously in cocktail shaker to chill. Strain into chilled martini glass (rim glass with cinnamon sugar). Add maple syrup for a sweeter drink. Head down to South County and try a tasting, be sure to also check out their Uprising American Whiskey and Hop Flavored Whiskey along with some fine vodka offerings.

Tastings are available for $10 which includes tasting glass on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 12:00-4:00 PM at 1425 Kingstown Road South Kingstown, Rhode Island. You can also find them online at SolSpirits.COM where you can find places to buy these great products near you or find other suggestions for cocktails.
