When a customer brings a cranky auto in to be serviced at Mineral Spring Car Care, the problem is not usually ... well... Alive.

"Sure enough," Jim says, "This lady drives in with a 1982 Buick Regal.  She heard a noise, so she brings the car in.  She says the noise is in the rear.  So I put it on the lift, and at first I don't see anything.  I check this and that ...Nothing.  Finally, in the shadows of the side furthest away from me, I see something move.  I see eyes.  I see a black and grey cat sitting on the axle.  It must have sat up in there all the way from this lady's house, quite a ways."

So the services here include Black Cat Removal?

"Black and grey," says Jim.

Even if the cat had been 100% black as coal, I don't think superstition would have kept the owner of Mineral Spring Car Care from doing his duty by the owner of the '82 Buick Regal.  This is, after all, a guy who embraces technology with enthusiasm.  Diligence in keeping up with the latest innovations is the hallmark of his business.

"I attend training seminars every couple of months," Jim says.  I ask him how many of his competitors he sees at the seminars.  "Some," he answers, "certainly not all."

Jim has been in the business since 1984, at his present location the past two years.  Based on his long experience, I ask him if cars today are better, or just more complicated.  "Both," he says.  "It's a definite challenge."  Hence, the continual training.

On the traditional, lower tech side, I notice an arsenal of snow removal equipment standing ready.  "I'm waiting for the snow," says Jim.  And this is not just because he likes the looks of the white stuff on a cold winter morning. In bad economic times, the auto repair business is either feast or famine.  Customers tend to wait until the last minute to make necessary repairs.  A few inches of snow now and then smooth out the rough spots.  In the meantime, Jim stays positive and at the top of his game.   Rest assured Mineral Spring Car Care will weather the tough economy. After all, if even a black cat in the works can't discourage him...

"Black and grey," Jim says.

Jim will de-cat your auto and perform more traditional repairs at:
