Proclamation Ale Invites Public to Come Taste Newest Brew, Chat About Pending Brewery Legislation4/6/2016
Rhode Island-based Proclamation Ale Company has invited members of the public, elected officials, and retail owners to their West Kingston brewery on Friday, April 8th to sample their newest beer, Plasmatic, and to provide context to a proposed Rhode Island bill (H7705) that would allow breweries to sell their beer directly to the public without going through a distributor.
First, the beer.
Plasmatic is a Blonde Sour fermented in oak for 14 months and re-fermented with blood orange. The beer is available in 375 ml bottles, limit: 2 per person, per day. It is a very small run, as only 35 cases will be made available for the first release. Then, the proposed bill. The owners of Proclamation would like to educate members of the public, elected officials, and retail owners about the rapid growth of the craft beer industry in Rhode Island, and how it relates to the current legislation submitted on behalf of Proclamation Ale. The bill would allow for the sale of alcoholic beverages on the premises of a manufacturer of said beverages and would allow the sale of said beverages for off-premises consumption. It would also amend the fee schedule for these licenses. Currently, a brewers and distillers can only sell small quantities of beer or liquor directly to the public. The law limits spirits at 375ml of distilled spirits per customer or 72oz of malt beverages. Now, the details.
