By Alicia: The Sexual Intellectual At the end of 2009, an estimated 1,148,200 persons aged 13 and older were living with HIV infection in the United States, including 207,600 (18.1%) persons whose infections had not been diagnosed. (http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/statistics/basics/index.html) Sadly, those statistics don't matter to most sexually active people in the US and across the world. We continue to have unprotected sex, hanging on a hope that it'll never happen to us but the reality is, it's out there and thousands of people are infected right now and don't even know it because they'd rather be in denial than protect their partners.
