Ryan Fox It’s the most wonderful time of the year if you’re a big comic book fan. That’s right folks, this Saturday and Sunday, Rhode Island is home once again to Comic Con. If you were about to put away your Halloween costume, you should keep it out for the next few days. This year, things continue on with a special Halloween Party in the from 8pm to 1am (18+ allowed). Then on Saturday, that’s when the Con officially starts. In the, you’ll have various panels throughout the day such as “So You Want To Be A Voice Actor?”, the SuperNatural Panel, “Star Trek Continues,” and the Rhode Island Costume Comic Con. Then on Sunday, there’s still a few more panels con goers can still attend including The Walking Dead Panel, Bill Finger “The Man Who Made Batman, Batman,” and many more. Plus throughout the day, there will be photo ops with the celebrities attending throughout both days of the Comic Con. Speaking of celebrities, the guest list this year is pretty impressive. Some of the guests include Michael Rooker & Scott Wilson of The Walking Dead, Tommy Flannagan from Sons of Anarchy, and movie star John Rhys-Davies from the Indiana Jones & Lord of the Rings trilogy movies. For those of the older generation, you got Jackson Bostwick from the original Shazam! and Richard Anderson from The Six Million Dollar attending the con. For those who are fans of cartoons/anime, voice actors Veronica Taylor (Pokémon, One Piece) and Vic Mignogna (Fullmetal Alchemist, Attack on Titan, Dragonball Z) will be in attendance. And finally for all the wrestling fans out there, you got stars like Ron Simmons (Farooq), Booker T., Rob Van Dam, and WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley making an appearance. But wait, there’s one more nugget that would make even the tiniest of sci-fi and comic book fans go bananas. At last year’s Comic Con, we saw the reunion of the original cast of the 1960s Adam West Batman series along with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. This year, the original Star Trek crew of William Shattner (James T. Kirk), George Takei (Hikaru Sulu), Nichelle Nichols (Nyota Uhura), and Walter Koenig (Pavel Chekov) will be at this year’s Comic Con. So dust off that Halloween costume, get your nerd on, and head on down to RI Comic Con. It only comes once a year and you don’t want to be that guy or girl who can’t make it. In the words of the great Mick Foley, “Have a Nice Day!” For more details and information about Rhode Island Comic Con, visit the official site. |
