Who is St. Valentine?
- Wikipedia says - Saint Valentine (in Latin, Valentinus) is a widely recognized third-century Roman saint commemorated on February 14 and associated since the High Middle Ages with a tradition of courtly love. Nothing is reliably known of St. Valentine except his name and the fact that he died on February 14 on Via Flaminia in the north of Rome. It is uncertain whether St. Valentine is to be identified as one saint or two saints of the same name. Several differing martyrologies have been added to later hagiographies that are unreliable. For these reasons this liturgical commemoration was not kept in the Catholic calendar of saints for universal liturgical veneration as revised in 1969.[2] But the "Martyr Valentinus who died on the 14th of February on the Via Flaminia close to the Milvian bridge in Rome" still remains in the list of officially recognized saints for local veneration.[3] Saint Valentine's Church in Rome, built in 1960 for the needs of the Olympic Village, continues as a modern, well-visited parish church.

Well depending on who you talk to you may get a different answer. I think the real question on February 14th is, who is Hallmark? I know what you are thinking, here comes a Valentines Day bash blog, on the contrary. There is a time and place in life for the lovey dovey, cutesy smootchie, gag me with a spoon stuff. If the good people of earth have deemed February the 14th a day in which we all pause to show a little appreciation to the one we love, well what's the harm in that?

In honor of the occasion, my gift to you , my loving fans, The Top Five Romantic Rock Songs

Now before you start with the onslaught of hate mail, may I remind you that music is indeed inspired by love. For the sake of this countdown, I have selected tracks that I believe to be the best representations of love.

ow I must admit I am at heart a hopeless romantic. Accused by many lovers of being stuck on an ex. I tend to want to dispute that fact, however may I just add we all have are own issues.

#5 I Miss You - Blink 182 - In 2003 Blink 182 released this quaint little love song, perfect for the era. A main stream hit and ear worm tune, the song's message is simple pure and fun .

#4 Again - Lenny Kravitz - A guilty pleasure for sure. Yet this track is sure to make the ladies melt upon dedication. Lenny shows off his skills in this love ballad.

#3 With Or Without You - U2 - are not afraid to express their love. In this 1987 classic, they created a juke box favorite, and an anthem for love sick people everywhere.

#2 I Just Want You - Ozzy Osbourne - Known for biting the heads off bats, and drunken and drug induced craziness the madman that is Ozzy has a soft side. In this track he certainly flaunts it.

#1 Love You To Death - Type O Negative - If you are not familiar with this band it's truly your loss. A goth rock metal blend that is definitively unique. This ballad is not a great example of their work , yet it's still a classic.

Happy Valentines Day everyone!
