This week's edition of The Sunday Post previews a bunch of amazing shows going on in New England that are a must see for any music lover out there today. With that being said, let's take a look: 1/7 - 990WBOB's Mondays On Blast @ The Spot 101 Richmond Street Providence, RI It's a new year and 990WBOB is starting off 2013 right by taking it's famous Mondays on Blast to a new venue at The Spot on 101 Richmond Street in Providence. Each Monday the best local musical and comedic acts come to rock the stage and this night is no different. Tammy Laforest, Malyssa BellaRosa, Grace Morrison & The RSO and The Custies will be performing live while Doug Key enters his first night as host of the comedy portion of the evening. Mondays On Blast is always free and you can head down to enjoy the festivities or listen in to the live broadcast right here on 990WBOB.COM at 9pm. 1/8 - Hospitality @ Great Scott 1222 Commonwealth Avenue Allston, MA Brooklyn indie pop band Hospitality will be performing at one of my favorite music venues in the Boston metro area at Great Scott on Tuesday. A band on the rise whose debut self-titled album was chosen by Rolling Stone as one of the Top 50 Albums of 2012 will be sharing the stage with all-girl indie band TEEN and Boston indie rockers Parks. Show starts at 9pm and tickets at the door are $12. 1/9 - The Rare Occasions @ AS220 115 Empire Street Providence, RI Boston indie rockers The Rare Occasions will be rocking the AS220 Performance Space on Wednesday with post-rock band We Are Oceans and alt-rock trio 1000 Nations (of The Persian Empire). I just got into The Rare Occasions recently and they have an dynamic sound, show starts at 9pm and tickets are $6. 1/10 - This Is A Movement @ The Met 1005 Main Street Pawtucket, RI Two of the best genuine punk bands in the New England area will be performing at The Met in Pawtucket Thursday with Providence punks This Is A Movement and The Down and Outs blistering the stage with their infectious music that is bound to cause a few mosh pits. Meds from Newport, RI and Hell Sea will also be on a bill that is guaranteed to blow you away. Think punk is dead? Come down to The Met for a show that will definitely change your mind. Show starts at 9pm and tickets are $8. 1/11 - Hard Nips @ Local 121 121 Washington Street Providence, RI A stellar lineup will be invading The Speakeasy located downstairs at Local 121 in Providence on Friday. Brooklyn's All-Asian Girl garage-punk rockers Hard Nips will be headlining the night with Providence folk-rock act Vudu Sister and fellow Brooklynites Hardbodies rounding out a bill that you surely can't miss. Last time Hard Nips played Providence they sold out Dusk riding the success of their amazing performance at AS220's Foo Fest this past August and plus you have the premier upstart band in Providence in Vudu Sister along with a groovy Glam Wave band in Hardbodies. Show starts late at 11pm and tickets are only $5. 1/12 - Smith & Weeden @ The Met 1005 Main Street Pawtucket, RI A great collection of a few of the best bands in The Ocean State will be showing off their musical talents at The Met in Pawtucket on Saturday. Smith & Weeden, The Mighty Good Boys, Dylan Sevey & The Gentlemen and The Little Compton Band will be bringing heartfelt and soulful rock & roll for a time that you just can't miss. For a night that will show you the greatness the Providence music scene possesses, stop by The Met to make your weekend a memorable one. Show starts at 9pm and tickets are $8.
