Dan Martin ...That AREN'T Football, that is. Everyone that loves the sport knows that the Game is the best part of the Superbowl. Right? But we all know that EVERYONE sees or is involved in Super Sunday whether they are a die hard fan or not. Here are five things we all love about Super Bowl regardless of our team affiliations or love of the actual sport being played. 5. Gambling: Whether you have a team in the big game or not, or whether you even care about the sport being played at the moment, betting on the outcome can be as fun as playing itself. Having a stake in the game can make a family gathering or even a friendly one that much more fun. Don't go crazy, friendly bets count as well. I recently saw a comedian lose a bet at a live show and therefore he had to wear the jersey of the winning team during his set. The jersey was way to big for him and looked like a nightgown, but he did it anyway and even got a few jokes in the moment from the bet. Seize the day y'all! 4. Parties: The Superbowl has become a holiday all of it's own. Being invited to a Super Bowl Party is fun for everyone. There are yummy snacks with fun presentation and as the rest of this list will indicate, there is something that even the most non-sports fan party goers can enjoy. Besides, spending time with friends and taking interest in what they love can be rewarding. And by rewarding I mean its fun watching grown men cry. At least it is for me.
2. The Media/the hype: Again, I am a silver linings person when it comes to this particular sporting event. I like watching the game for the commercials, being invited to or having a gathering for the game and sometimes making a friendly wager or two. The only way I can follow what is happening is by googling which teams made it into the Bowl and finding information through youtube and other sites to catch up on past events, scores and controversies. I mean we ALL remember the nip slip heard round the world! The excitement and all access the media provides is all part of the buzz that comes from Super Bowl Fever. Catch it! 1. Half Time!: The Halftime Show is a time honored tradition where washed up celebrities can make a grab at the coat tails of American Sports Advertising. I have seen some sad halftime shows that made me very happy. The trick is not to wonder why that particular celebrity is on that stage right now but to make a drinking game out of it. Besides, there are still commercials at Half Time and all that party food! Enjoy yourselves this year and who knows, maybe we see some surprise genitals? |
