It's Memorial Day weekend, a time to reflect and appreciate those who gave their life and limbs for our freedoms. While you're busy flipping that burger and sipping that cold glass of sangria, try to take a moment and remember the brave men and women of our armed forces.

If you are looking for some cinematic remembrance of graphic battle carnage, well you are in luck. Compiled this week is my top five war movies of all time. Enjoy.
Picture
#5 The Dirty Dozen - Lee Marvin is all you need. The man the myth the legend leads his dysfunctional convicts into the heart of World War II. This movie is timeless classic.

Picture
#4 Saving Private Ryan - This movie was one of the few that lived up to the hype. Known for it's almost to realistic beginning, Tom Hanks and company delivered an exhilarating performance.

Picture
#3 Patton - George C Scott delivers an epic performance as General George Patton. This film is not only an in depth look at the infamous leader but it's also an historic look at WWII.

Picture
#2 Platoon - Oliver Stone's masterpiece. This movie was one of the first to pectic war in a none romantic fashion. Platoon was a trend setter that lead to a bevy of other films. Featuring an all star cast of then Hollywood future stars, this movie is in any war movie lovers top five.

#1 We Were Soldiers - Say what you want about Mel Gibson, however in this movie he is the man! A thriller from beginning to end, well written and directed, this movie makes the biggest tough guy's eyes water. The action will make your pulse race, and even the slower more dramatic back home scenes carry the proper amount of emotion. A must see movie indeed.
