Last night was the second episode of the yet to be named, but still functionally awesome radio hour with Chad and Kevin. Last night they broke down the new season of Arrested Development (no spoilers), music festival overkill, an unlikely French Pimp, and the end of zombie civilization as we know it. First thing I always like to do when tasting a new beer is completely skip over the manufacture's description and form my own opinion prior to reading. Having a good source to purchase your adult beverages from helps this process, as a knowledgeable proprietor can easily suggest something that will appease your taste buds. Show starts at 9pm, it's all ages and tickets $10 in advance and $12 at the door. 5/29 - Small Black @ Brighton Music Hall 158 Brighton Avenue Boston, MA Brooklyn indie band Small Black will be performing with Heavenly Beat at Brighton Music Hall in Boston on Wednesday. Show starts at 9pm, show is 18+ and tickets are $13. 5/30 - The Uncluded @ The Sinclair 52 Church Street Cambridge, MA A new musical duo consisting of lead singer and guitarist of The Moldy Peaches Kimya Dawson and underground hip-hop legend Aesop Rock will be performing at The Sinclair in Cambridge, MA on Thursday. Doors are at 7:30, it's all ages and tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. 5/31 - Desert Sharks @ Dusk 301 Harris Avenue Providence, RI Another Brooklyn band will be invading New England this week and this time it's Desert Sharks at Dusk in Providence. Maritime Pilot, Thunderbolts and Gill Moss will be part of a stacked bill as well. Show starts at 9pm, it's 21+ and tickets are only $5. 6/1 - Northern Lands @ The Met 1005 Main Street Pawtucket, RI It's back to The Met in Pawtucket with Providence rock & rollers Northern Lands will be celebrating the release of their debut album He Took A Dive in full effect on Saturday with one hell of a show. Cactus Attack, Viking Jesus and The Mallett Brothers Band will be opening the show and it's bound to kick some serious ass. Northern Lands' debut is an album you have to get your hands, so why not buy it while you're seeing them rock the joint? Show is at 8pm, it's all ages and tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Doors are at 8pm, it's all ages and tickets are $10. 5/25 & 26 - Boston Calling Music Festival City Hall Plaza Boston, MA A spectacular indie music festival called Boston Calling will be taking place in the heart of Beantown this weekend with acts like The National, The Shins, Young The Giant, Matt & Kim, Portugal. The Man, Dirty Projectors, Ra Ra Riot, The Walkmen and Bad Rabbits gracing two stages. The fun starts at 9pm, it's 21+ and tickets are $20 to see a music legend up close and personal. 5/16 - The Hush Sound @ Royale 279 Tremont Street Boston, MA Chicago pop-rockers The Hush Sound will be performing at The Royale in Boston on Thursday with Hockey, River City Extension, Genevieve Schatz from Company of Thieves and Lucas Carpenter for what should be a stacked bill of indie music talent that is sure to blow you away. Fellow singer-songwriters Angel Olsen and Steve Gunn will be opening up the show, making a nice bill that's a must see. Show starts at 9pm, it's 18+ and tickets are $16 in advance and $18 at the door. 5/18 - Carnival Barker's Ball @ The Roots Cultural Center 276 Westminster Street Providence, RI Stella Knows Blues, Indiana Handshake, and Gill Moss perform for an all-out romping, stomping showcase of swing, americana and blues-rock on two stages. Special guest local singer-songwriter Maiden of Madness. Circus and traveling carnival costumes are encouraged to be worn by the public as well as a tattoo contest being held.
