Car Grumps #20 6/15/21- You would think that as car guys we'd be sticklers for perfection. We have tolerances that require fine adjustments of head gaskets, timing, and metal tolerances. In reality we're pretty lax on what is the most visible and potentially important part of our vehicle, the exterior. We'll leave our car out in the elements through some of the harshest weather this area could dish out and barely have any water touch it save a passing rain shower.
This episode we're going to find out why 35% of the population don't even know how often they should even wash their cars! Still this industry is growing 3.3% per year as new technology inundates the market. We'll discuss what's the important of ceramic vs wax and jam in as much as possible. Our guest is Alex Jarvie, an expert in automotive cleaning that got his start in 1994 back when washing a car was simply water, soap and wax, but he's kept up with the times and now has a continual stream of daily drivers to luxury exotic vehicles that cross his path looking for pure perfection that his many years of experience can offer. He's also no stranger to the car community, having hosted countless staples events in New England and owned some pretty awesome cars himself. We'll discuss all of it here and if you're interested to check out Alex's business you can see it on drivenperfection.com, facebook.com/drivenperfection, and instagram.com/drivenperfection where he shows off his best work!

Car Grumps #19 6/1/21- If you've gone to any event that matters you've run into some of the hardcore drivers that don't just drive the drive, but they dress for success! At first you may resist the thinking, but in reality you're probably already thinking about it. Shop shirts and jeans are part of our society. All you need to throw in is bowling shirts and classic dresses and boom, it's full blown old school!
Vintage, Retro, and Pin-Up Lifestyle has permeated our automotive world. It's not just about restoring the cars, but the restoring those vintage values while embracing the new empowered community of men and women. That means they want to look the part! Guys dressing up as "Greasers" and ladies dress up as "dames!" Of course women always get the best fashion, meaning they have options from a true vintage style to a more punk/hardcore rock look that mixes everything together. It's also a gateway for more women to get into the car community! In this episode we have Dani Marrero of Brazen Belles Burlesque. They have support vintage apparel and hold vintage beauty pageants at Viva East and Hot Rods on the Hill with an incredible turnout and support from an increasingly growing car community. Car Grumps #18 5/18/21- On this episode of Car Grumps it's all about the road and how we connect to it. Often times we discount the most important thing on our vehicle. Sure, power is nice, but how do you get that power to the ground? How do you apply it in a way that it will produce results. With the wrong suspension you could have all the horsepower in the world and it wouldn't do much for you. We're going to talk about not cutting corners on the connective tissue that adheres you to the road. Some of us also want to look the part and look good and don't realize that starts via the four wheels and function is often-times the masterpiece. It can seem nice to just cut or buy some cheap lowering springs, but you have to realize that it's not good for your driving conditions. What you should be considering first is wheels and coils. So first up today we're going to talk to Chad Senecal of REVO Forged based right here in Rhode Island. You can check them out on their Instagram and facebook and their website revoforged.com. They make bespoke wheels for all sorts of applications and you'll look good while you're mastering your road presence. Next up is Andrew Wallace of ISC Suspension North America, based in NH. Check out their Instagram and facebook and at their website iscsuspension-na.com. He's going to discuss the value of the coil set-up, what services they offer to make your car look perfect while being performance based. So today we get an opportunity to support our local business owners as we all come back from this pandemic and look forward to driving out, as well as supporting you looking good while you're doing it and hopefully win some shows! Enjoy the show. Producer note: Date stated during show for Broke East was incorrect. Correct date is June 27th at Stafford Motor Speedway Car Grumps #17 5/4/21- When it comes to Social Media, there's a ton of people looking for insta-clout, but for some they've turned YouTube, Instagram, and just general photography into a paying gig. It's not easy, it takes working smart as well as hard and only a few can put in the kind of work to see zero results for months or years on end while getting no results. Sometimes it's as easy as just knowing where to look and what jobs most apply to what you do. For many it's an automotive dealership or just having enough moxy to pick up the phone and start ringing people up! So today we're going to talk to someone that made their own destiny and turned that clout into cash.
Primo speaks to Jacob Boucher who is a blooming YouTube star that has had access to Ferraris, Aston Martins as well as many new cars and it's showed in his viewing audience on his channel Carguy 1999 Reviews. Car Grumps #14 3/24/21- It's Women's Month and we know that car guys love strong women that can turn wrenches so we found two that can show us how it's done. We have two such awesome and successful ladies from the car world that are ready to discuss their trials and tribulations. They'll tell us what the car world is like for them and if it's any different than their male counterparts.

This will be a full episode of talking about regular automotive insanity with a woman's touch. Check us out as we go pink for this special episode! Car Grumps #13 3/9/21- When we started in the car world gaming wasn't a thing. Our personal computers had the power of a calculator at best and even Mario Kart wouldn't be released until 1992! At best you had an arcade with a scrolling screen that wasn't very realistic, so they didn't do more than a cliff note to motivate a generation to turn wrenches or upgrade their cars.
Since then games have grown. From simple arcade racers like Need for Speed and open world affairs like Midnight Club to simulation games like Forza and Gran Turismo things have grown immensely. Depending on how deep your pockets are you can invest in an iRacing machine complete with dynamic seat and literally race with other racers from around the world on real live tracks with whatever car you want for real winning! Today we talk with 990wbob.com alumn Mike Sandoval , Untamed Games Matt Matteson, a veteran of the car world and gaming, and Edgar Gamboa, a long time gaming friend of Primo, about how their gaming world has intersected and inspired an automotive generation. Car Grumps #12 2/23/21 - Plan to dive into the deep end of car show arena? Whether you display or you're the promoter, it can be daunting task. Many hosts dive in the deep end and quickly go under from the demand. Is it resources, team players, venue? What is it! Today we'll ask the tough questions.
On this show The Grumps will talk to two car shows that decided to go from zero to hero on their first time out and see what made their event successful. Kofi of the Bad Habit Auto Club discusses their plan to go deep with their car show and also starting off in a Cars and Coffee at a pro-level. Juan Vargas of East Coast Auto Expo is going for a hail mary with their big-time car show first time out. We'll talk about what his team is like and what it'll take for their first one to be a winner. Lastly, we'll discuss what we've learned and what we should've learned and relay some quick tips to make your event, the big one it needs to be. Car Grumps #11 2/9/21 - There was a time, not too long ago, that magazines and automobiles were at the top of the food change. Television never showed an incredible love for the car show world, so it needed a place to go so as other news sources slowly moved from print, cars embraced the vacuum. That changed on December 2019 when many magazines closed up shop and car folks everywhere shuttered that their connection would be severed irrevocably.
Still some automotive magazines remained and others even doubled down. In this episode of Car Grumps we have local magazines, possibly even from your area, that are ready to show you the coolest cars on the planet and we ask them what it's like to stick to print in a digital world. Unlike many different forms of communication, cars are visual. We know from experience that it's hard to convey the power of or the beauty of cars without it. Funny enough, the one venue that excels at it, print, is the thing that is dying the fastest when it comes to automotive, while the radio and podcast environment are growing in popularity. Today we try to put it to rest as to why this is and what does print have to do to make a comeback. In this episode Reggie Willis of ECS magazine. ECS is short for East Coast Stylez and it focuses on vehicles all up and down the East Coast. If you live in New England you probably have seen a lot of local vehicles featured on their pages. Unlike many magazines that focus on specific genres ECS tries to reach to every corner of the car world. Also Louis Cicerone of Motorhead Magazine a Cranston RI based magazine is another that has expanded throughout the years by keeping an open mind to all things automotive. When it comes to local New England they have featured many vehicles from muscle to import and plan to continue this long standing relationship with the car community with awesome cars and even cooler stories. Maybe they want to hear yours! In our final discussion we discuss not only what is here now, as well as what could be to come with print, social media, youtube, and podcasts. |
