Undercover Blues #88 8/12/22 - Detroit Junior was a born blues man. He is known for songs such as "So Unhappy", "Call My Job", "If I Hadn't Been High", "Ella" and "Money Tree". His songs have been covered by Koko Taylor, Albert King and other blues artists. He had a gravelly voice which made him unique. When he really got crazy with the music he would get under the piano and play with only his hands visible. While he backed all the greats, He didn’t start a solo career until the 70’s. Something else that most people never noticed was that he only had one leg due to complications from diabetes. He never let that stop him from being an entertainer. The blues is born of adversity and happiness and Detroit Junior knew how to make the piano sing scream and shout. Join us Monday nights at 9 PM for the best blues and life hacks. Don’t forget that Rick Estrin and The Nightcats will be appearing at Chans in Woonsocket August 20th at 8PM. Hit Play To EnjoyClick Here For More Undercover Blues
