Undercover Blues #87 8/5/22 - This week’s feature artist Jarekus Singleton is a multi-talented blues artist. JS became a top-seeded college player for University of Southern Mississippi . An ankle injury cut his basketball career short, so he began performing Blues music full-time. Another interesting fact Jarekus began as a rapper but soon began incorporating Blues music into his rapping. He formed the Jarekus Singleton Blues Band in 2009. In 2011, Singleton self-released his album Heartfelt, and sold it at live performances and online. In 2013 he was discovered by Bruce Iglauer of Alligator Records at the International Blues Challenge, and Bruce even helped pen some of the songs on Jarekus’s album “Refuse to Lose”. Jarekus is one of the new breed of Blues players that will carry the genre to the next generation. Join us on Undercover blues Monday nights at 9PM for an enjoyable night of blues, and don’t forget that Rick Estrin and The Nightcats will be appearing at Chans in Woonsocket August 20th at 8PM.
