Johnny Sunchips At the so called midway point of the NBA season, albeit some 50 plus games in, the Celtics remain in the bottom seven in the race for the "cream of the crop" in the coming draft. But it's all star weekend in New Orleans and there are / were two members of the Green in uniform. It happened in Friday nights Rising Star Challenge. Both Jared Sullinger and Kelly Olynyk were voted as starters for "Team Webber" and both were very productive. Sullinger connected on three of his first four three point attempts in route to a 13 point performance while dishing out four assists. Olynyk fared well, mostly on the defensive side of the ball, grabbing 3 steals while blocking a shot. He also netted 9 points. Here are some other news and notes...

With all due respect to the thousands of athletes participating in the 2014 Winter Olympics, all of whom can do things I can only dream of doing or wouldn’t have the stones to do in front of such a large audience, I’m having a hard time keeping my eyes glued on the Sochi games in lieu of King Of Queens reruns. Travis Barrett What’s more fun than Olympic hockey? I’m not talking about the actual on-ice competition, where we all politely thank the Swiss and Austrian contingents for showing up and providing the superpowers with a couple of warm-up wins in pool play. No, the true fun in Olympic hockey resides north of the border, where social media in all its glory — websites, blogs, Twitter feeds and Facebook updates — frets and foibles all over every single movement on behalf of Team Canada. Let’s face it: Canada is good. Probably great. But their efforts are dwarfed by the King Kong Bundy-sized analyzation of so many watchful eyes across the Great White North. Even with a 2-1 overtime win courtesy of Sid The Kid’s golden stick over the United States in the gold medal game back in 2010, there was angst on par with a crazed Black Friday mom waiting in line for seven hours to make sure she gets her spoiled rotten four-year-old dictator the latest Teletubby (or whatever the little tykes get these days). |
