The Celtics, who looked dismal for most of their Game 1 playoff matchup in Atlanta will likely be without their star Point Guard Rajon Rondo for Game 2. After a questionable foul call against Brandon bass, an emotional Rondo confronted referee Marc Davis, which earned him his first technical foul.
You know everybody has been talking about the #1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft Stanford (now Indianapolis Colts) QB Andrew Luck for god knows how long. Sure he put up impressive numbers during his time at Stanford, sure he came close to winning Heisman trophies, and he was taken #1 overall in the draft. But did he get a parade dedicated to him, a week vacation to Newport Beach, California, an invitation to a golf tournament, a shiny new trophy, or even a trip to Disneyland for being taken #1 overall? Nope, that goes to his teammate and fellow QB Chandler Harnish from Northern Illinois University, the 253rd pick overall and this year’s Mr. Irrelevant. During his 4-year career with the NIU Huskies, Mr. Harnish played in 47 games, starting in all of them. He threw 687 completions out of 1110 attempts for 8,944 yards, 68 touchdowns, and 26 interceptions and a career QB rating of 145.1. Harnish also rushed the football 538 times for 2983 and 24 touchdowns, including rushing for 1,351 yards and 11 scores in 2011 alone. However due to playing for a ‘small school’ in a ‘weak conference’, those numbers are overlooked by many NFL scouts and he plummeted down all the way to 253. So what if Mr. Harnish was taken 253rd overall, so what if he has to sit behind the Colts’ new ‘Golden Boy’ QB, so what if he came from a weaker conference. All that means is that he has less pressure to worry about being a franchise’s savior and he can go in and do what he does best: play football to his fullest extent. And when Andrew Luck gets smacked around and needs to be taken out for a few games (which won’t be a surprise at this point for a struggling rebuilding team), Mr. Harnish will get his chance to come and work his magic. But for now while Andrew Luck is worrying about the pressure of being a franchise's savior, Chandler Harnish will be chilling at Disneyland, get his own parade dedicated to him, and be living life for he is this year's Mr. Irrelevant of the 2012 NFL Draft. - Ryan Fox It would not be outlandish to consider Michael Floyd is the top receiver of his class,. His stats are gaudy, his hands like glue. There exists no shortage of leaping grab pics for the Minnesota native. An All-American and two time Player of the Year at the high school level, a main stage record setting college career. All these reasons and more prompted the Arizona Cardinals to swipe the Notre Dame receiver with the 13th overall pick. At 6'3" 220 lbs. the 22 year old grew up a lot his senior year. After a turmoiled off season he was placed on suspension. Once reinstated, he set a school record for catches with 100. He finished his collegiate career a men among boys compiling 3686 yards and 37 touchdowns, The Cardinals are hoping these numbers translate over at the games highest level. Floyd's uncanny ability to catch almost anything combined with his versatility both on the sideline or over the middle may be a reckoning force for defenses. Opposite center to Floyd will be All Pro Larry Fitzgerald. Certainly Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt has to be taking into consideration of the possibilities and potential of this tandem. After all Fitzgerald's best seasons came when a man named Boldin was his partner in crime. Get a pen and pad... strike that get something more permanent like a marker write this down. Michael Floyd is a solid pick at 13 an almost sure thing in a league full of parody. Watch out for the Cardinal double threat coming this fall. -Pal

Bob Prime - Kevin Aherne One of the most liked guys in the game. A family man, a holy man, a man's man. The complete opposite of every cliched scumbag named Canseco, or Bonds. The original good guy caught with a little dirty urine. 240 wins, 2251 strike outs was not enough. Many debate his worthiness to be enshrined in Cooperstown. His debate for retirement is over... at least for now. Andy Pettitte is pitching his way up through the Yankee farm system on his way to his first major league start since 2010. This is not just a feel good story, the Yanks need Pettitte. Freddy Garcia is off to a predictable destructible start posting an enormous 9.75 ERA after 3 starts, averaging just 4 innings per start. Nova has been impressive thus far in his brief major league career, but how long will that last? Phillip Hughes has looked almost completly unserviceable throwing beachball, volleyballs, basketballs, bacci balls... anything but strikes. It is not a matter of if Pettitte will be in the rotation, its a more a matter of who's heading to the pen? All thing being said, the end result is Andy Pettitte is once again or perhaps still a holy man, still a family man, and still a relevant lefty in the game. -Pal In just his 2nd season in the NHL, 20 year old Tyler Seguin is already establishing himself as a hero in Boston sports lore. With the Bruins facing elimination in Sunday's Game 6 matchup in Washington, the bruins stepped up with some OT heroics to force Game 7. After giving up a 3-2 lead late in the 3rd Period, the team's wind was knocked out collectively, but once OT began, the Bruins' urgency seemed to return. Less than 4 minutes into the extra frame, Seguin received a pass from Lucic following a Capital turnover, and was able to outmatch the goalie to earn a sudden death victory, and preserving his team's playoff hopes. It was a beautiful day for baseball at McCoy Stadium as 5,095 fans watched their Pawtucket Red Sox beat the Durham Bulls 9-5, the second game of their 3-game weekend series. PawSox Starter Pitcher Ross Ohlendorf went 5 2/3 innings, giving up 6 hits, 4 runs (all earned), striking out 4 and walking 1 and picked up the victory, his 3rd of the year. The PawSox offense was led by 3B prospect Will Middlebrooks, who went 2-5 with a monster home run in the 2nd and 2 RBIs. With that victory, the PawSox record increases to 12-5, including 5-3 at home in the early part of the 2012 season. The series closes up on Sunday at 1:05pm. Righty Justin Germano (1-1, 2.12) will take the mound for Pawtucket while righty Jhonny Nunnez (0-1, 3.86) will take the mound for Durham. -Ryan Fox April 20, 1912: Boston Red Sox defeated the New York Highlanders 7-6 in 11 Innings. The game, marking Fenway's first, was supposed to take place on April 18, but heavy rain caused two days worth of delays. The much ballyhooed park finally opened to a capacity crowd of 24,400. This park served as an intimate and modern replacement to the Huntington Avenue Fairgrounds, which featured a massive outfield (635 feet to CF), but a small capacity of just over 11,000. Fenway Park was the Red Sox new home, and they broke it in stylishly, winning the 1912 World Series. They also won 3 more titles by 1918. After that, the Sox were believed to have been affected by a curse, related to the sale of Babe Ruth to the Yankees. The Sox would feel the effects of this "curse" for 86 years, finally breaking through with a World Series sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals in 2004. They won again in 2007. Today, coming full circle, the Sox will face their much-hated rivals in a celebration of 100 years of baseball at Fenway Park.

That didn't take long... Bobby Valentine has not wasted any time assuming his usual foot-in-mouth ways. The Sox' new Skipper has already fabricated a controversy in the clubhouse. In a recent interview, the enigmatic manager was asked about Youkilis' early season struggles, and Valentine answered:
Bobby V appologized, but the damage was done. The man who should be spending his time trying to earn the trust and respect of the Fenway Faithful, is seemingly going out of his way to destroy his own reputation. The worst part of this comment, was how he responded. He had two choices on how to address the issue He could A): Stand By his comments, or B) Play the Mea Culpa card, and admit it was a poor choice of words. He chose C), a jumbled and awkward delivery of a completely irrelevant explanation: “I should have been more specific. Physical is about your swing, emotional is about not being happy when he doesn’t hit a ball off the wall.”
