By Scoop Fox Ugh...What the hell happened last week? After two consecutive weeks of double-digit wins, yours truly hit a snag. Though I finished above .500, it was not pretty. This week, we have our first bye week for a couple of teams. Not to mention that this week debuts the NFL’s first game across the pond. Let’s get to it. Week 3 Record: 9-7 Season Record: 33-15 Byes: Green Bay Packers, Carolina Panthers By The Dip (@noahattheark) Everyone knows the life expectancy of a Running Back is about four years. Unfortunately for your fantasy team, it can be as short as four weeks. Running backs are the bane of most fantasy owners, they get hurt more than they have 15 point weeks. This week out of the Top 25 running Backs there are 10 on the injury list.
By Michael Parente Everyone has that annoying Facebook friend who wastes half his day rehashing old motivational quotes more commonly reserved for those tacky framed portraits of mountains and sunsets found hanging on the wall of your boss’s office, something about Michael Jordan missing 100 percent of the shots he doesn’t take or how 99 percent of failures come from people who have a habit of making excuses.
By Coach Hayes The non-conference portion of the NCAA schedule has concluded and that means its time for some real games. On Saturday the Big Ten season begins, and these are the games that really count. Wisconsin and Purdue opened up the Big Ten a week early with the Badgers putting it to the Boilermakers; but that was to be expected after what happened to Bucky Badger the week before against Arizona State. Tell you the truth, if Wisconsin played a sounder game against the Devils, then that loss would have never happened. So shame on you, Bucky Badger for making the Big Ten look bad on the West Coast. That was the same day Ohio State bucked Cal on their home turf scoring three times in the first 6 minutes. So now Saturday will be the real opening day for the Big Ten.
Does parity not define the NFL? How's this! There are six undefeated teams... and the same number of winless squads. Five of the six NFC teams who made the playoffs last year are under .500! It's still early, but keep those buckles fastened people! The excitement can only grow! Here you go. The five takeaway's after 3 weeks of football: By Coach Hayes With the non-conference part of the schedule finishing up and Big Ten play just around the corner, the Ohio State Buckeyes are showing improvement on both sides of the ball. The running back play has been excellent even though they have been missing their top rusher and scorer from last year, Carlos Hyde. Jordan Hall has stepped up in a huge way by filling in for Hyde by contributring a couple 100+ yard games, helping the Buckeye offense score points at will, especially in the 1st quarter of all three games so far. The last non-conference game is against FAMU, an FCS team. It just happens to be the first game Carlos Hyde will be eligible to play in. Nothing wrong with playing a creampuff for your first game back. Oh yeah, FAMU is getting paid 900,000 bucks to come into Ohio Stadium to take the beating. I'm sure with that kind of money they will gladly lay down and let the Buckeyes do what they want. In my opinion the game may well be over before the 1st quarter ends. The Buckeyes may even cover the over by themselves. Red Sox, Patriots, NFL & more w/ guests Joe McDonald from ESPN & Andy Hart from Patriots Football Weekly. Hosted by Michael Parente By Scoop Fox Oh it’s good to be back. That’s right folks, it’s time for Scoop Fox’s Pick’ems. Two weeks in a row where I had double-digit correct pick’ems. Am I on a roll or what? Not too much for storyline going on this week. So far we got an old coach returning to his old stomping grounds in the City of Brotherly Love and a college QB facing his old college coach. I'll let you figure out who I'm talking about. That being said, let's get this party started. Week 2 Record: 13-3 Season Record: 24-8 By Michael Parente Imagine it’s your wedding day. Your tux is on point, the floral arrangements look sharp, and everyone in your family – even the crazy molester uncle – is on his or her best behavior. You’ve been married and divorced already, but you think you got it right this time. You’ve found your soul mate, and you’re finally ready to love again.
By Johnny Sunchips We are two weeks into the 2013 NFL season; and with 32 games under our belts, we are starting to get a feel for the composition and character for many of the teams around the league. Each week, I will give you my best takes and thoughts regarding the happenings from around the league as the season progresses. After two weeks, here are my top five takeaways (in no particular order): 1. The Seattle Seahawks defense is the best I've seen since the 2000 Baltimore Ravens. That team, led by future HOF Ray Lewis, ran a devastating defense that posted four shutouts, and gave up an average of just over ten points PER GAME. These "Hawks" can generate pressure from both ends while clogging up the interior. The secondary, led by the Richard Sherman can be intimidating to any receiver. They simply punish the opposition.
