Florida Panthers Executive Vice President and General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has acquired F Reilly Smith and the contract of F Marc Savard from the Boston Bruins in exchange for F Jimmy Hayes. “We are pleased to welcome Reilly to the Panthers,” said Tallon. “Reilly is a young talented forward who adds skill, speed and versatility to our team. We thank Jimmy for his contributions to the Panthers and wish him the best of luck in Boston.” Smith, 24, has appeared in 203 National Hockey League games for the Boston Bruins (2013-15) and Dallas Stars (2011-13), recording 100 points (36-64—100). In 12 postseason contests, Smith has recorded four goals and one assist. During the 2014-15 season, the 6-foot, 185-pound winger recorded 40 points (13-27—40) in 81 games. Bruins Sign Beleskey The Boston Bruins signed forward Matt Beleskey who with the Anaheim Ducks had a breakout season last year. Now the Bruins are hoping Beleskey continues to blossom because their search for offense led them to sign the unrestricted free agent forward to a five-year contract on Wednesday that averages to $3.8 million per season. |
