It's true the Celtics rested Paul Pierce on the second night of a road back to back. It's also true that eight games before the playoffs Boston looks more like a team on life support than a team who wishes to go far in the playoffs. Boston has just about clinched a playoff berth; however with nights like this the Celtics will be going fishing faster than you can say Kenny "The Jet" Smith. If this is what Doc Rivers is expecting come playoff time, then Boston will most likely be swept at the hands of the Knicks or the Indiana Pacers. For the second night in a row the Celtics got completely out played. On Sunday Boston got completely embarrassed in MSG against the New York Knicks. The Celtics then followed up their thrashing by the Knicks with a ten point loss to the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves 110-100. Granted Coach Doc Rivers sat Paul Pierce to give the Celtics aging caption some much needed rest. Kevin Garnett also missed the game against his former team due to lingering injuries. However, are we really expecting the Celtics to make a deep run in the playoffs if they can't even find a way to defeat the pathetic Timberwolves without their future hall of famers? The Celtics have eight games left in the regular season before the playoffs start. Some NBA experts have said the Celtics may be one of the only teams in the conference to be able to give the Miami Heat a scare. I believe if Boston continues to play like this, they don't have a shot in hell of beating anyone in a seven game series, especially the Heat. The Celtics have matchups with the Pistons and Cavaliers this week. One can only hope that this Boston team who once had championship aspirations can show up against these bottom feeders.
