With his one year ban taking effect on April 1st, New Orleans Saints' Head Coach Sean Payton has been working hard to establish his team's contingency plan. Payton received his ban from the NFL for allowing his defense to pay player "bounties" for causing high profile injuries, but this week, he has been seen all over the owners meetings... pursuing Bill Parcells.
Bill Parcells has been known to bore easily, leave his current team, and pursue a new challenge elsewhere. He jumped from the Giants to the Pats to the Jets to the Cowboys, then Miami and now potentially New Orleans.
However, based on the Saints' plan to retain Payton after his reinstatement, a one year stint in the Bayou might be a perfect fit for the Tuna. The Saints should be excited and nervous at the prospect of Parcells running their squad because he wins... often, but does it his way. He could very well go off-script and make a series of personnel changes that would contrast Payton's view for this team's future.
I guess we will see how this relationship develops in the next few days, because the Saints very much want to have their new coach in place before the 2012 NFL Calendar begins next week.
