![]() Yo. This is Scoop Fox here to give you your weekly PawSox update. We are getting close to the 1st quarter mark of the IL season and our boys down in Pawtucket are off and running. The Pawsox are currently tied for 1st place in the IL North Division with the Buffalo Bison. However because the Bison played 2 less games than the (Pawsox are 22-13 while the Bison are 21-12), based on winning percentage the Bison are technically the division leaders (.636 for Bison vs. .629 for Pawsox).
But not to fret, the Pawsox are currently on a 5-game winning streak and won 7 of 9 games at the start of May. Right now, they are in the second half of their 8-game road series. The first half was a 4-0 game sweep of the Gwinnett Braves down in Lawrenceville, GA. Now they take on the Charlotte Knights down in Fort Mill, SC, the first series match-up to the team they beat to with the 2012 Governors Cup. Some major player movements occurred this week. Due to Red Sox closer Joel Hanrahan going on the 60-DL, the Red Sox called up PawSox reliever Jose De La Torre while sending back down P Allan Webster to Pawtucket. Also they put OF Jackie Bradley Jr. on the 7-day DL with right bicep tendinitis. OF Brandon Synder leads the team with HRs with 7 for the season, slugging percentage with .619 and OPS with 1.030. He is also tied with INF Mark Hamilton for team-lead of RBIs with 25. CF Mitch Maier and C Ryan Lavarnway lead the team in batting average with .321 a piece but Maier leads the team in OBP with .424. In pitching, RHP Oscar Villareal leads the team in wins with 4 (4-2). LHP Ryan Lowland-Smith leads the team in ERA with 0.47 while RHP Terry Doyle leads the team in both innings played (38.2) and in strikeouts (33). RHP Anthony Carter leads the team in saves with 4. After finishing up their weekend series with the Knights, the PawSox will head back home for an 8-game series with the Gwinnett Braves from 5/14-5/17 and then the Indianapolis Indians from 5/18-5/21.
