The plans are drawn and the numbers are in. During a press conference Wednesday, the new PawSox ownership group unveiled its plans for a new downtown Providence waterfront stadium, and announced its price tag: $85 million. That plan includes a 750-spot parking garage, and the 10,000 seat stadium.
The stadium's cost to taxpayers is approximately $4 million annually. Essentially, the stadium will be leased to the state for 30 years at a cost of $5 million per year, the state will then lease the stadium to the baseball club for $1 million per year. The actual cost to Rhode Islanders taxpayers works out to $9.67 per household, or $3.80 per individual resident. So, with that said, do you support the new stadium in Providence? |
