The No. 25 Providence College Friars were defeated by the No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats, 58-38, on Sunday, November 30 at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky. The Friars had a productive first half and were led by junior Tyler Harris and senior Carson Desrosiers who had six points each. Providence trailed 26-22 at intermission. Karl-Anthony Towns led the Wildcats with seven points. In the second half, the Friars stayed close and trailed by 5 points (30-25) after a Desrosier's three pointer with 15:58 left in the game. However, Kentucky went on a 18-4 run to open up a 44-29 lead with 8:18 left in the game. UK's lead got as large as 20 points in the closing minutes of the game. Desrosiers and Harris each had 10 points to lead the Friars, who shot a season low 28.2 percent from the field. Towns and Willie Cauley-Stein each had 11 points for Kentucky. The Friars will return to action on Friday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at Boston College on ESPN3. |
