The Yankees just got older. Just when you thought it was impossible for the Golden Yanks to add more senior MLB citizens to it's roster, they did. Friday night the Yankees reportedly reached an agreement with free agent outfielder Carlos Beltran. The 37 year old is coming off a terrific 2013 season in which he lead his former team (St. Louis Cardinals) to a National League championship.
Beltran's deal is said to be worth $45 million over three years which yet again has the Bronx faithful shaking their heads. Beltran joins Jacoby Ellsbury as part of the new look NY outfield. Replacing last years aged crew that included such has beens as Ichiro and Vernon Wells. The new look duo of Ellsbury and Beltran are an upgrade this season sure but how about next? Perhaps even considering the two an upgrade is being a bit optimistic considering Ellsbury's durability and Beltran's age.
