PROVIDENCE, R.I. (April 23rd, 2015) – Award-winning digital media outlet 990WBOB.com is teaming up with Operation Stand Down Rhode Island (OSDRI) to help provide stable housing for homeless and at-risk veterans.
Founded in 1993, OSDRI is a non-profit organization offering assistance to individuals or veteran families, including permanent and transitional housing, intensive care management, food and clothing, in addition to employment training and placement programs.
An independent media outlet and two-time Providence Phoenix Best Blog Award winner, 990WBOB.com provides up-to-the-minute news, sports, politics and weather through its award-winning digital print and radio platform with more than 80,000 listeners in Rhode Island and availability in more than 200,000 homes nationwide.
Listeners are encouraged to donate to OSDRI during WBOB’s weekly live podcasts, among them The Rotunda (Mondays, 8 p.m.) with political correspondent Scott Rotondo; Parente & Pal (Tuesdays, 6 p.m.) featuring 990WBOB.com General Manager Adam Palazio and veteran sports personality Michael Parente; and The Wild Side (Tuesdays, 7 p.m.) with David Clyde.
The month-long campaign begins May 1st, 2015 with a goal of $990. All proceeds go to OSDRI.
“We’ve chosen OSDRI because we recognize their hard work and efforts and we’d like to support such a terrific organization right here in Rhode Island,” Palazio said. “The purpose is to celebrate our veterans and give back to those who sacrifice everything for our liberties.”
“Operation Stand Down is proud to have the support of WBOB, its listeners, supporters and contributors,” said OSDRI Director of Communications and Development Dee DeQuattro. “We look forward to developing the partnership in order to help us serve Rhode Island’s veteran population and to educate the public about the issues faced by our returning heroes as they return home from the battlefield.”
