When the world's attention shifted to France in early January following a tragic terrorist attack on a satirical magazine, four URI students and one professor were among the nearly 4 million people who flooded the streets of Paris in solidarity.
University of Rhode Island Sophomore Ian Kanterman arrived in Paris by train the day after the January 7 attacks on Charlie Hebdo with three other URI students traveling with French Professor Lars Erickson as part of URI’s J Term program, which allows students to take classes during winter break and to travel with professors for unique international experiences and academic credit.
Not only was Kanterman on hand at the rally, he was able to film it from his GoPro camera. Check out his footage:
