Robert Cividanes a comedian based out of Upstate NY will be joining us on the phones this week.

Robert has been in Off-Off-Broadway shows and on Television shows such as NYPD Blue and the Sopranos. I ran into Cividanes at the Comedy Zone in Warwick, RI. [Now closed] It was one of the last shows at that location and our first show together ultimately. We became fast friends and bonded over such things as "The Hobbit" and of all things, rehabilitation.

I believe in the power of helping others with sharing experiences and laughter. I myself have family members that struggle with addiction. Robert has been clean for eighteen years and going. I included a link below to RECOVER THE LAUGHTER, a touring comedy show that visits rehab centers and helps to heal on laugh at a time.

Tune on in this Wednesday, December 11th at 7pm, it's going to be a great time.

next week!

Wednesday December 18th @ 7pm

We will be joined by film maker Richard Griffin. A king of the local and bizarre. I am a huge fan of Richard's and had the chance to work with him once while roasting a close friend this past year. It was really fun insulting someone as a first impression. We got on well and both share a dark sense of humor.

I included a photo Gallery of some of Richard's films and projects. Tune in December 18th for all of the Cult Horror you can handle! and possibly even more!

Dan's top 5 xmas horror flix

This list, much like the way I celebrate the Holidays, is Non-Traditional while being rooted in tradition. The best contradictions are Gory! Some of these flix aren't traditionally Horror or entirely Christmas themed or even movies but they all kept me quite entertained and filled with spirit. I have a Holiday themed fear for each one. Enjoy!

Tales From The Crypt- "And All Through The House"- OK so not a film and it's number one. I know! I love this episode. Originally it was the pilot episode of the the series but aired second in rotation for Season One in June of 1989. I was 8 years old and very much into Horror films. This made Christmas scary and actually made me look forward to the holiday. As Halloween was my favorite and still is. The episode was directed by Robert Zemekis who of course brought us The Back To The Future Trilogy and stars Larry Drake (Dr. Giggles) as a psychotic Saint Nick. Both facts I didn't care about until older but selling points no less. This preyed on my fear that Santa wasn't real and someone was breaking into our houses or could. Go check this out!

Gremlins- Again not a typical Horror flick. This one is a comedy. Directed by one of my favorite Directors of the Horror/Comedy genre, Joe Dante. Who brought us flicks like, "Piranha," "The Burbs" and "Inner Space." All movies with horror and or Science Fiction overtones. This movie takes place on Christmas and is essentially about a gift gone wrong. Which of course lead to my fear of getting something special or exotic for Christmas and messing it up. Though I don't think anyone would die if I forgot to water a plant. Well, the plant would.

Black X-mas (Remake 2006)- I normally don't go for remakes or "It's coming from inside the house" type movies but this one was fun. A freak is running amok on Christmas and killing off all of the members of a sorority house. I don't want to spoil too much for you but one thing that sold me was what I am calling a bonus kill. Someone is murdered with an icicle through the head and that's not even the best kill scene! This one preyed on my fear of having nowhere to go on the holidays and being from a broken family, I am extra careful of accepting invitations these days.

P2- More of a thriller, released in 2007 among your Saw and Captivity varieties. This is about a woman who is trapped inside a parking garage on Christmas Eve and tortured. I know last minute shopping makes me anxious.

Ginger Dead Man- Alrighty, we made it! Number 5, last and most certainly least.  This is not a Christmas Movie and doesn't have x-mas in it but its Ginger Bread and therefore it counts. This is the story of a killer's ashes being dropped into a batch of... you guessed it! And being brought to life with Electricity. Is it worth a watch? You ask. Well Gary Busy does the voice of good ol' GDM and there are two subsequent sequels... so... YES! Its good garbage. This one just makes me laugh, I am mostly scared holiday treats will go straight to my hips. This one goes STRAIGHT TO THE JUGULAR!

This past Friday Eugene Mirman came to Providence RI and brought the Columbus Theater its first Stand Up Comedy Show. I was there with Comic's Corner's own Moshing Maniac, Kenny Nardozza and will be releasing a review of the show right here on the Culture Page. Keep an eye out.

We have two LIVE episodes before Christmas and on New Years Day I will be on the road in Boston. Even with the break and travelling, keep up with us right here on the Blog and HERE on the SITE. Also, I will be out and about performing stand up. Never be without me, I get lonely.
