The College Football Playoff Selection Committee announced today the first installment of its top 25 rankings.

The selection committee will prepare five more rankings this season, including the final set on Selection Day, Sunday, December 6.  The top four teams in the final rankings will play in the Playoff Semifinals on December 31, 2015, at the Capital One Orange Bowl and the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.

“It’s exciting to be back as we kick off the second year of the College Football Playoff,” said selection chairman Jeff Long.  “We are little more than half way through the season and a lot of football that remains to be played.  This is the first of six rankings.  They are the result of games that have been played thus far.  Change is guaranteed and that’s what makes college football exciting.”

This was the first official meeting for the selection committee to issue rankings.
