Patriot's Day

Oh what a day! Thousands are flocking to the Hub City today to see one of the city's many famed sporting events.  The Boston Marathon, Morning Baseball at Fenway, and Playoff Hockey tonight!

Patriots Day Facts

• The Boston Marathon is the world's oldest and longest standing marathon (1897)
• Patriot's Day is an official state holiday in Mass, Maine, and Wisconsin, celebrated on the 3rd Monday in April to commemorate the 1775 Battles of Lexington and Concord
• The battles of Lexington and Concord were made famous by the historically innacurate poem "Paul Revere's Ride"
• The Red Sox have played morning baseball at Fenway every year since 1968, with a record of 67-50 (22-11 vs NYY)
  
• The early Sox start was to allow the fans to exit the game just in time to see the race leaders approach Kenmore Square. (The race start time has since changed, causing the leaders to pass Fenway much earlier in the game)
• A Kenyan has won 19 of the last 22 Boston Marathons
• Greg Meyer (1983) was the last American to win the Men's Race
  

This is just what Paul Revere and William Dawes would have wanted us to honor their 1775 Midnight Ride.... Watching a bunch of Kenyans beat all of the Americans by an hour.
