Loyal readers and listeners, you are about to be taken to another world. A world where music is the last salvation of humankind, sibling rock & rollers Shawn and Tracy Garrity from VulGarrity ventured to such a place and came back to Providence to release their third album Funkeology. The record shows an amazing progression in the rock duo's sound with VulGarrity taking huge leaps and bounds in order to create music that its as unique as themselves.

If you've never seen VulGarrity live, they are one of the best ground-breaking bands out there today. Shawn and Tracy loop together bass lines, drum beats, keyboard notes and guitar riffs while also alternating on instruments and vocals to create infectious music that will make you go absolutely crazy while bobbing your head to the beats. It's always a beautiful thing when a band's record excellently captures their electrifying live performance and Funkeology absolutely does that, every track just hits you with groovy rhythms that make you want to move around and shuffle your feet.

Here's that time again, its time to decide which songs get noticed to the naked eye and which songs are left to the imagination. Even though it's a new year, picking my favorite songs out of an awesome album like VulGarrity's Funkeology is as hard as picking my favorite slice of pizza. Anyways, here goes something: "Victorious" showcases the epic synth-funk VulGarrity can produce, along with countless other genres they touch upon. "Middle Finger Machine Gun" has Shawn and Tracy bringing a little rapping to the table to give this track an interesting hip-hop tinge. "Wheel Of Fortune" makes me think of swing jazz with the piano starting the track off, but then the duo's bass and guitar skills jump right into the song like a wrecking ball slamming through a brick building. The title track "Funkeology" is definitely the hit off of the record, telling the futuristic post-apocalyptic story that revolves around the album. Don't let my claims fool you, just because I picked a few tracks off of Funkeology doesn't mean that every song off of it won't rock your socks off.

VulGarrity will be performing at Dusk on 301 Harris Avenue in Providence with Brooklyn synth-rockers Dynasty Electric on January 11th, a show you can't miss with two excellent acts sharing the stage. I've known Shawn and Tracy for nearly 5 years now and it seems that they get better and better with each record they put out. Now don't just sit there after reading this and be lame, get yourself a copy of VulGarrity's Funkeology for an otherworldly experience.
