Imperial Pearl, America's leading pearl importer and one of the world’s preeminent designers of fine pearl jewelry, today announced that newly installed solar panels will provide 100% of the electrical needs of its company’s World Headquarters, a sprawling structure in East Providence that encompasses offices, showrooms, a design studio, and manufacturing, inventory storage, and international shipping facilities. The cost of the conversion is in excess of $1 million.
“Imperial Pearl enjoys long-standing relationships with pearl farms in some of the most exotic and pristine locations on the planet,” explained company president, Peter Bazar. “These facilities are, to say the least, fragile. Even minimal changes to their ecosystems can wreak havoc. And today they are severely endangered by rising sea levels resulting from global warming.”
The Wild Side Episode #260 4/19/16 - In this episode of The Wild Side, host David Clyde welcoms long-time friend and Rhode Island State Representative Doreen Costa into our Cranston studio. From New York Primaries (if you're a Hillary Clinton fan, you're better off skipping this part) to how progressives have essentially choked away the right for others to voice their opinions (i.e. Governor Raimondo's people telling CCRI students to be quiet or else during a rally last week) to the sudden increase of Zika virus victims in the northeast region and in Rhode Island (not for the feint of heart), they cover it all. Heck, they even throw in a little talk about their four-legged companions.
As families across the country eagerly await the end of school and the beginning of summer, millions of Americans are making plans to travel with loved ones this year. According to a recent AAA survey, more than one-third of Americans (35 percent) are planning to take a family vacation of 50 miles or more away from home involving two or more immediate family members in the next 12 months.
AAA estimates that U.S. drivers have saved nearly $12 billion on gas so far this year compared to the same period in 2015, and drivers this summer should pay the lowest gas prices in 12 years. These lower gas prices have helped motivate Americans to drive at record levels, and prompted many families to take road trips this year. Fifty-five percent of Americans say they are more likely to take a road trip this year due to lower gas prices.
The Rotunda Episode #60 4/18/16 - Hosts Scott and Tom discussed the national Presidential races, how the delegate counts break down and what the chances are for a contested convention in Cleveland for the RNC.
Scott & Tom also welcomed guest Anthony Sanders from We Run This Town called in to discuss his group, and what it was like running on the Boston Marathon a couple years ago. We also talked to him about membership in his group. The duo also had an informative discussion about Providence's recent relaxing of the panhandling laws and how this can affect people traveling downtown, and what all the fuss is about transgender bathrooms. They even promote a potential solution! Emergency visits are increasing despite the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), with key reasons including seriousness of medical problems and lack of access to other medical providers.
A new report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found "few changes in ER use" between 2013 and 2014, which is the full year since the implementation of the ACA. |
