The Ben Bentil era in Boston came to an end Friday afternoon.
According to sources, the Celtics waived the forward Friday ahead of the league's cut-down day (October 24), where all teams are required to trim rosters to 15 players. Danny Ainge will now have to decide between third-year player James Young or sophomore R.J. Hunter to fill the team's final roster spot.

Wednesday night we were all treated to the third and, mercifully, last presidential debate for this election cycle. The audience at UNLV got to witness first hand a couple of weak candidates spend more time jousting with each other and selling us on how bad the other candidate was, rather than presenting those pesky, annoying things called facts. For Donald Trump, he needed to not just hold his own but to score some definitive knockout blows in this debate. From my vantage point, while he did make some good points, it was far less than what was necessary in order to bridge the gap with Hillary Clinton. In fact, after this debate showing, Republicans down the ballot have reason to worry, as Trump could very well be the albatross that brings down not only the GOP hopes of recapturing the Oval Office, but in fact loses them their present majority in the House and, with it, Paul Ryan’s job as Speaker.

When was the last season the Patriots were not playoff favorites? I cannot even remember. Every year, they seem to be projected to finish well, and always end up in the playoffs. There are not many other powerhouses like the Patriots in modern NFL times. There are a few, but not many. The Patriots get the opportunity to face one of those few this coming Sunday, as they travel to Western Pennsylvania to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Governor to Launch Talent Sourcing Solution to Connect Unemployed Job Seekers and Employers10/18/2016 This Wednesday, Governor Gina Raimondo, Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza, state economic and workforce development officials, and business leaders will launch a new program aimed at connecting job-seekers to hiring employers: Skills for Rhode Island’s Future.
This new public-private talent sourcing initiative encourages employers to commit to inclusive hiring practices and to remove barriers that often prevent qualified long-term unemployed and underemployed job seekers from job opportunities. Skills for RI’s Future will work with employers and other state workforce programs — including Real Jobs RI, TechHire RI, and P-TECH – to match them with motivated Rhode Islanders looking for jobs, especially those who have been unemployed longer than six months. The University of Rhode Island Feinstein Center for Service Learning will again hold its Be 5K Race/Walk for Mental Health Awareness & Suicide Prevention Oct. 23.
Entering its eighth year, the event has drawn students and parents, faculty, staff University leaders, alumni and local residents to the Kingston Campus for a day of physical activity, reflection and support for the campus community and for those affected by suicide. And this year, the URI Feinstein Center is teaming up with the URI Counseling Center and Heather Fund, Dean of Students Office, Psychological Consultation Center and the Department of Athletics to offer Fresh Check Day Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 1 to 4 p.m. The free event for students will be held on the Quadrangle, but will move to the Memorial Union Ballroom if it rains. |
