Recently Comic's Corner received news of '2776,' a fantastic, star-studded music/comedy album out July 4th with sales to benefit OneKid OneWorld, an organization that provides a foundation for education in impoverished communities throughout Kenya and El Salvador by giving children from primary school through secondary school the opportunity for a better and brighter future. That's no laughing matter, the CD however is going to be great!

From the minds of Rob Kutner (CONAN, The Daily Show) and the Levinson Brothers (Tonight Show, Comedy Central), and the talents of a dizzying range of stars including Patton Oswalt, Aimee Mann, Yo La Tengo, Reggie Watts, Will Forte, Ira Glass, Andrew WK, Ed Helms, Margaret Cho, Paul F. Tompkins, The Rebirth Brass Band, Eugene Mirman,  and MANY MORE, comes '2776': the ultimate comedy-musical trip through America's past, present AND future.  '2776' is a concept album of 28 original songs performed by 82 Emmy-, Tony-, and Grammy-winning actors and musicians with liner notes by award-winning author George Saunders.  '2776' will be released on July 4th with sales benefitting OneKid OneWorld in their efforts to promote education in Kenya and El Salvador.  Pre-orders available now at  CDBABY!

'2776' consists of 28 outstanding tracks taking satirical aim at every aspect of America - from sports to sex to the media, from religion to war to technology, nothing is spared.

·  Patton Oswalt is God, announcing to America that he's "moved on" accompanied by Muddy Waters guitarist "Steady Rollin'" Bob Margolin, Right Said Fred takes Reggie Watts (Comedy Bang! Bang!) and Mayim Bialik (Big Bang Theory) on a joyride through time.... well, pretty much just to 1991.


Dick Cavett, Dick Gregory, Joe Franklin & Al Jaffee are the presidential heads of Mt. Rushmore, griping at the arrival of queer, Asian-American newcomer head Margaret Cho. NPR's Nina Totenberg reports  - in song - on a Supreme Court case in a dystopian future where Rock n' Roll has been banned.


In the title track, Martha Plimpton is an alien landing on Earth in the year 2776 and planning to destroy it! That is, unless the US President (Will Forte), his Secret Service detail (Aubrey Plaza), and George Washington (Paul F. Tompkins) can change her mind by taking her on a time-travel journey through all the wonders of America that make the Earth worth saving. Does it work? You'll have to listen to find out as the plot unfolds throughout '2776'.
 
"2776" is being released independently and available July 4 via CDbaby on iTunes and across all digital platforms. 

Starting June 24, '2776'  will be streaming in full exclusively on SoundCloud  and available for pre-order with profits going to OneKid OneWorld.
