John Elkhay, Maestro of Chow Fun Food Group which owns and operates some of the most critically acclaimed and popular restaurants in Providence, has been tasked with creating a special menu fit for a President, to be served during a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraiser taking place on Friday, August 29th at the home of Rick Bready and Betty Easton in Newport, RI. President Obama, along with Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chair Steve Israel, Congressman Jim Langevin, Congressman David Cicilline and approximately 60 guests will enjoy a variety of American-inspired delicacies prepared by Elkhay; Chef Lou Cruz, Executive Chef at 10 Prime Steak & Sushi; and Chef Marty Lyons, Executive Chef at XO Café. Guests will begin with a selection of passed hors d’oeuvres including: Harry’s Bar & Burger local beef sliders adorned with a dual-sided flag featuring the Rhode Island state flag and the American flag; Alaskan salmon tartare with American caviar; Rhode Island corn bisque made with local corn and cappuccino foam; tuna California maki with soy glaze; and short rib tacos. The plated dinner takes its inspiration from the host’s seaside location, featuring a surf and turf entrée of prime sirloin and a grilled Maine lobster tail paired with a rich root vegetable gratin and micro vegetables, including baby beets and baby carrots. The dessert features a lemon curd tart with hand-picked berries from Ward’s Berry Farm in Massachusetts, in the design of the American flag. More WBOB Reads |
