...Problem is, I smoke crack like a fish! Welcome Folks! To another edition of Comedy On Us, the official unofficial news letter of Comic's Corner on 990wbob.com. It has been a busy and funny month so far and we are only a week in! I hope you all enjoyed my first foray into meme making. Let's face it, the Mayor of Toronto had it coming. Canadians! M'Iright? Below we have some pics and news from RI Comic Con 2013, what's coming up on the show Later this month and what we have in stall for tonight as well as a few more tid bits... so away... we... go!

This Week On The Show

Picture
Wednesday November 5th we have former Comedian and Current Nerd Match Maker Ryan Glitch on the phone.

I recently met Ryan at RI Comic Con and sat in on his Sci Fi Speed Dating panel. I blogged about it HERE.

Join us tonight on the show to hear about how this all began. We go live 7pm roght here on 990wbob

Comic Con, a not so V.I.P

Above are some pretty sweet pictures from the Con. Only one problem, all together these pics cost 40 dollars to get! Press pass, guest pass, it did not matter. Celebs at the RI comic con were charging and sticking to their guns. Andrew McCarthy gave us the photo op and waiving his 10 dollar fee. We weren't so lucky at other booths. Johnathan was a cool 10 bucks and Ernie Hudson, 30. Well worth it to have these guys featured here on the blog. They were very nice and willing to talk turkey on Twitter about possible call ins to the pod cast.

Circling the con however, we ran into some snags with celebrities refusing the "free" photo op for the blog. Professional courtesy was tossed right out the window. Billy Dee Williams was heading out when we got to him and he didn't answer any of my questions himself. His handlers just yelled, "Billy Dee has finished his photo ops for the day." We never heard a price, perhaps our money was no good here. Unless of course you are Danny Glover. Danny seemed tired and almost like he was feeling a little to aged for this ca ca. I asked him for a photo and he gave me a pretty long but reasonable excuse as to why he felt he shouldn't do that. He explained that the con was paying him to be there and take pictures with Ticket holders, people that actually purchased 45 dollar tickets, not press. It would have taken him less time to just take the photo with Kenny and I, we were the only ones in line. He was being paid by the con to appear and take con goers money for photos. Sounds like a pyramid scheme to me. Wrestler Kevin Nash talked to us for five minutes and at the final moment told us to ask his manager about the photo, to which the miserable looking guy said, "Twenty bucks!" We just walked away. Thankfully the true stars of the con gave us free pics. Like the Rancor and Jabba The Hutt.
Prices were steep and I do not doubt that the average fan spent over one thousand dollars in one day. I heard of people leaving once they walked around realizing they could not afford to do anything there. Panels were included in the ticket price. Some had sign up fees like Speed Dating, that was ten dollars. Personally I look forward to ordering the merch I missed online and as for signatures go, if its not free its not for me. I long for a no VIP mentality in this business. Must be all of the independent movies I watch. Truth is, it was a long weekend for all of us, heck even the mall food court Taco Bell jacked it's prices by almost 3 dollars. It is what it is folks but by no means should you be fooled by the industries telling us that they do these things for the fans. Everyone has a job to do and the people here at the con, even the celebrities are doing theirs and at the end of a work day salary is the most important thing. This blog however is brought to you by comedians for comedians. Now if you will excuse me, I am going to watch Ghostbusters! So much better than Predator 2 and Star Wars... take that Billy and Danny!

Below are some more pics from the con of fans and cool stuff alike

Still To Come This Month

Next week we will have guests Chuck and Brad on the show to discuss their CD DVD release later in the month at Lupos.

More details coming soon. Stay tuned

-See you out there.
