Dan Martin Welcome to our Comedy Newsletter and sometime episode filler; Comedy on us! Vol 21! There is a lot to cover this week. We record a brand new episode this week with not one but two in-studio guests and one scheduled caller. The rest is up to history. Kenny will be on the Road, leaving Dan to return to Bruce's Loving arms. There are new shows sprouting up in the RI area and it is a good thing. Showcases as well as open mics and a new group on Facebook to join if you are looking for stage time. And MORE! We have a lot to cover, let's dive in! Last week Last Week I was out of the studio for the second week in a row. Leaving Bruce and Kenny sharing hosting duties for out THIRTY-EIGHTH episode. I couldn't be prouder of my team. Joining our show were fellow comedians James Creelman (Comic in resident, Comedy Studio, March 2014), Randy Bush (LULZ Comedy, AS220) and all the way from Chicago, IL Kevin White (Arguments and Grievances podcast). Remember folks, it's all fun and games until you torture your producer. Then it becomes one hell of a party. This Week's episode #39!... This week we have three young comics from all over the Map that got there start in and or around RI. We will hear how they are fairing in their various scenes and be regaled with tales of their conquests. Everything from underground music scene to Art Galleries and a Video Game Museum. We will also discuss a new show starting up in RI, a showcase for newer talent and some newer open mics and open mics revamped. There is a lot of stage time in other cities, making them more appealing to stage hungry comics. Find out how RI is compensating and soon it may be possible to hit at least 2 to 3 mics a night, depending on the day of the week and the comic's level of experience. I mean, they can't all be open mics, can they?
LASTLY- We will be talking about the Symposium that I am a part of at URI March 22nd 2014. To find out more details and how to register, head to ourEVENT PAGE for the day. There will be writing and performing workshops as well as Comedy History seminars. All culminating in a show featuring Myq Kaplan and Patton Oswalt. |
