By Dan Martin PARDON OUR APPEARANCE, I'M HUNG-THE-FUDGE-OVERWelcome to the Third installment of our Comic's Corner New's Letter, Comedy On Us: Vol 3. Below, I talk about my past weekend in comedy on the road with Guest Host Extraordinaire, Kenny Nardozza as well as upcoming events and guests on the show. Lots going on here at 990wbob.com. Enjoy! PREVIOUSLY ON THE CORNER "What is Dan even doing over there?" Last week on the show we had Call in guest, Joe Toplyn. Joe is a late night TV writer and is currently teaching a class on the subject and writing a book due out by year's end. Click Here to listen to the episode before the new one drops. THIS WEEKEND AND BEYONDFriday was a great night! Kenny and I made our way to Portland, Maine to meet up with Comedian Ian Stewart. Ian produces his own shows and is known in Maine for his underground Comedy and Punk Rock ethos. The show was Couch Lock 3: That'he s so Couch. Normally a show that Ian records and releases as a mixtape. Lately, he has been busy recording and editing his new web show, The Srainger. Stewart started recording the show a few months back on his own. The set is simple, a chair and a handmade sign in front of a table, located in the far corner of his bedroom. When mixed all together the elements of the show make for a great escape for bud lovers of all types. The Series was picked up by a local magazine and sponsored by Potland and Boston Tree Party, all advocates for the green! The show was a lot of fun even if it didn't make it on tape. It was a classic house party style show, right down to the BYOB! I included an episode of the Strainger below. In a few weeks there may be some crossovers from us and them. Keep an eye out folks there is the possibility that I may still be high from this crazy weekend. Saturday night I hauled my buns from Maine to Davis Square, Somerville, MA for Geek Week Comedy Presents, Back To School. Geek week puts on fun themed shows showcasing sketches and stand up from the areas best "geeks." This week's theme, Back To School, included a performance by the missing Ramone, Wally Ramone and Stand up from such comics as Headliner for the evening, Ken Reid. Their shows take place the first Saturday of every month @ Comicazi Comics in Davis Square and the Second Saturday of the month at Grandma's Basement, inside the Howard Johnson's at Fenway. I will be returning to the show this week: Saturday, September 14th $5 8 PM @ Grandma's Basement - (From their Group): Grandma's Basement is not actually in a basement, but we are a Wednesday through Sunday comedy venue in the Howard Johnson Fenway lounge, aka the Tiki Hideaway, connected to the Hong Kong Cafe...confused? 1271 Boylston St., Boston.
