This week on The Cafe, Pal and Kevin caught up with comedian Cowboy Bill Martin ahead of his television comedy special, Let the Laughter Roll, airing Saturday at 12:30 AM (EST/PST) on CMT.  The trio talked about Cowboy Bill's comedic roots, and how a cowboy -- not redneck (Bill explains the difference) -- from Texas risked it all, and bet on himself and his comedy.

Don't Miss: Let the Laughter Roll
Network: CMT
Date: Saturday, November 21, 2015
Time: 12:30 AM EST

CMT, along with Inception Media Group, Middlin’ Creative and Cowtown Drive-In Productions are proud to announce the TV premiere of the one-hour stand-up comedy special, “Cowboy Bill Martin: Let the Laughter Roll”, Saturday, November 21st at 12:30AM EST/PST.

Comedian “Cowboy Bill” Martin has traveled the world doing his own brand of original stand-up comedy where he talks about love, the frailty of life and the magnitude of being a modern man. Sure he wears cowboy garb on stage and he speaks with a Texas accent but his comedy touches people of all cultures.

Martin hope viewers will find the special “Raucous, Rowdy and Real.  He added, “It’s nothing you’ve come to expect with a ‘country’ comedian.  It’s like spending time late night at the kitchen table with your cousin, laughing.”

Martin has toured over the years with George Strait, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, George Jones and the famed Blue Collar Tour. He's also had the privilege of entertaining our soldiers in the Middle East.  But, the comedy veteran credits his rise in popularity to his last five years working tirelessly with Carnival Cruise Lines’ Punchliner Comedy Club Presented by George Lopez.   “Because of Carnival, I knew the show was ready. After all, each week I’m doing 2 ½ hours of material in front of 2500 people,” “The next logical step was to make a move to TV.  I’ve watched other comedians shoot their own specials, and I thought; why can’t we do the same thing?” said Martin

The one person he had to convince was his wife, Michele and his five children.  “We were about to put a down payment on our dream house and one night at the kitchen table I told her, Carnival provides an incredible opportunity to build a fan base but a TV special could take me to an all new level.” So instead of a new house, they decided to roll the dice and self-finance a one-hour comedy special.

What makes Martin’s story so unique is that he will be making his national television debut with this special. Obviously, the attempt was pretty risky but it paid off when they found a home for it on CMT.  It was a move he admits was “Crazy and a long shot at best.” Martin added, “It’s not like I had a deal in place. I just figured after all these years, maybe it’s our turn.”

“Cowboy Bill Martin: Let the Laughter Roll was produced/directed by John Reynolds who made made a name for himself filming the LIVE AT BILLY BOBS© series and other country music videos. Martin said, “John knows comedy and he captured what it is I do on stage. Then Inception Media Group got it to CMT, a place we wanted to be all along.” Martin has a two-year agreement with the network.

Martin noted, “We shot the special at an old haunted, vaudeville theater called the Rose Marine in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Ironically, it's just minutes away from where my mom worked as a waitress counting pennies, nickels and dimes and where my father climbed in and out of an 18-wheeler truck while I was growing up. The energy and synergy that night was just perfect.”

In his spare time, Martin is the Founder and CEO of the non-profit organization “Cowboys Who Care Foundation” which provides Free Resistol cowboy and cowgirl hats to kids with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, delivering more than 4,100 hats to kids across the country since 2012.

So whether you are from the big city or a small town, you should feel right at home watching Cowboy Bill Martin.   At the end of you will realize, Martin is just a big, loud Texan with a great big heart.  And you can’t help but like the guy.”
