A garage rock band from Providence that has steadily become one of the best acts to see live in the New England area, Atlantic Thrills know how to make you go absolutely crazy while having tons of fun. Their highly anticipated self-titled debut is coming out this week and it oozes fuzz, emphasis and energy to create an album that is a must have for any rock & roll enthusiast. With Eric Aguiar on bass, guitar gods Daniel Tanner and Kelly Riley and Josh Towers on drums, this frenzied foursome are bound to give your ears a jolt that they’ve never experienced before. People are always looking for a cool band that knows how to turn it up and get loud, look no further than Atlantic Thrills and their brand new debut.
Rooted in styles comparable to The Stooges, Black Lips and anything Ty Segall has touched, what impresses me the most about Atlantic Thrills is that they show no fear when it comes to broadening their repertoire. At points you’ll hear a surf rock riff and even a ballad that will make your soul swoon, there’s no cookie cutting going on at all. Keeping it real and keeping it original, that’s what Atlantic Thrills do best and it’s exemplified perfectly on the new album. After one listen you will get hooked like a fish on a line and you will never want to let go.

It’s that time again, it happens every week but it never gets old. Well, it might be getting old for you but it never does for me. Whether you like it or not, it’s the part of this piece of music journalism where I name my top tracks off of my Album Of The Week. It’s as expected as doing your taxes every year or having to tie your shoes at least once a day, but it’s a whole lot more fun. Anyways and as always, here goes something:

Rip roaring fast and chock full of electricity, I haven’t been able to stop listening to “Holy Mountain” ever since I got my hands on the album. Give it a spin and you will definitely feel the same way. An old fave of mine from Atlantic Thrills’ live performances, the album version of “Acid Rain” exudes pure bad ass rhythms and tones that will get your head bopping in no time.
Another old fave is “On My Mind”, an anthem for anyone who found self-comfort in getting over a failed relationship and just wants to have some fun. The bass from Aguiar in “Problems” starts off the track perfectly and then everyone else joins in for another rocker that will simply astound you. Don’t be lame and just read what I recommend while doing nothing about it, Atlantic Thrills’ debut is a pristine album that definitely deserves your consideration.

Atlantic Thrills will be celebrating the release of their debut album this Saturday on February 1st by throwing a bash at Studio Blue on 111 Summer Street in Providence with Littlefoot, Gymshorts and Ravi Shavi joining in on the festivities. On top of that, they will also be embarking on a tour starting at Don Pedro in Brooklyn on March 4th. Until these crazy bunch of rock & rollers set your friendly neighborhood music venue ablaze, get your hands on Atlantic Thrills’ self-titled debut. It’s going to be one of the best albums to come out of Providence this year, dive right in and find out why.
