Dan Martin In the interest of brevity and so called wit, we at the Comic's Corner have decided to make a top 5 list of our own.* Please enjoy the internetty-goodness of our [second] time waster, The Top 5 is Alive! This Week: Top Five Things that make me weary of comic con: Pros and Cons** *Actually, we had to. Nevertheless, enjoy! **Don't worry, it's not all negative. Maybe? Top Five Things That Make Me Weary Of Comic Con: Pros and Cons5. Previews: Pro, you get to see exclusive footage of Movies and TV shows AS they are being leaked online. Con, The Bane of a Nerd's existence in the cyber age are SPOILERS! I personally avoid the Next Week Ons for new shows and sometimes even get annoyed at movie trailers for spoilers so this is just one selling point that doesn't sell me. 4. Estimated Seating Needs 6,500: Pro, you get to meet 6,499 people just like you. Con, there are 6,499 people out there just like you. 3. Exclusivity: Pro, There is something here for everyone. Con, Corporations stepped in and found a way to make it appear as though we were getting the scoop before everyone else. Marketing is marketing folks, at the last con I went to some of the celebrities wanted upwards to eighty dollars for a signed photo. Why aren't the celebrities being compensated by the con? What else have we been lied to about? I Personally enjoy supporting artists by purchasing their work. A signed photo is hardly the same as reading or watching someone's hard work. 2. DVD Features Live: Pro, I enjoy watching Comic Con panels and drawing lessons on special edition DVDS. Seeing them filmed live could be a treat. Con, you can't leave an event until it ends, so if it starts to bore you there is no MENU button to bring you back. God Speed. 1. Cost: Pro, Events are included in ticket price. Con, This is the most deterring factor. There are packages that include hotel and con but Food and drink for three days has to be factored in as well as travel costs and then there are the Artists and Merch. Which is perfect for older fans but as a young struggling Nerd with visions of their own, watching the round up on youtube is clearly a more affordable method. |
