Dan Miller, Head of The Wheeler School, will announce the naming of the school’s new Center for the Arts at a dedication event, Friday, October 17 at 6:30 p.m. on the Providence campus. The event, being held during Wheeler Alumni Weekend, is expected to attract alumni, parents, donors, faculty, staff and friends for the brief dedication announcement, which will be followed by tours of the new facility. The new Center for the Arts faces Angell Street in Providence and encompasses the largest campus-building project since 1964. A visually striking, 400-seat auditorium forms the centerpiece of a new arts complex that also includes 5 performing arts classrooms; 4 practice rooms; a 175-seat black-box theater with flexibly-arranged seating; a “green room,” costume storage; renovated arts studios, and a digital photography lab. The Center was designed by Ann Beha Architects and managed by general contractor dck worldwide. Funding was provided by gifts to the school’s “Campaign for the 125th” celebrating Wheeler’s 125th anniversary as a school in 2014. |
