The Rotunda #113 7/10/17 - Local artist Jason Mayoh calls into The Rotunda tonight to talk about his graphic novel about Rocky Point Park. It’s a great interview that’s sure to take those of us is our 40s and beyond on a trip down memory lane, to some fun childhood times with family. If you listen hard enough you can (maybe) even hear Salty Brine calling out ‘no school Foster/Gloucester’!! You’re also going to get all caught up on Katie’s Law, named after a young woman who was murdered by a felon in the US illegally, and who had been deported multiple times – which would help to keep those criminals who’ve entered the country and committed a serious crime, out – and also the progressive clarion call of ‘racism!!’ because it’s a law that they don’t like. How ANYONE can be against keeping murderers form re-entering out country is beyond me, and how anyone can think this is discrimination boggles the mind. Listen for yourself and you be the judge. And what do you think of Governor Raimondo’s free tuition plan? With no budget yet approved, can she even legally implement it? And isn’t it impossible to hold students to the ‘pledge’ to stay in RI for a certain amount of time, wouldn’t that be restricting people’s education options even more? What if their chosen field of study takes them out of state to the best school for that discipline, can Rhode Island really prevent them from going or otherwise penalize them? Be sure to listen all the way to the last segment, where Scott reads his love letter to Florida, that state that dominates the ‘funny news’ segment!!
