12 Days to Opening Day: Red Sox Make Roster Moves

Red Sox kick off the 2015 season in Philadelphia on April 6th, and with just 12 days remaining until Opening Day, the team has made a few personnel changes. Executive Vice President and General Manager Ben Cherington made the following roster moves Thursday Morning ahead of their Grapefruit League matchup with the Minnesota Twins.

• Outfielder Bryce Brentz, third baseman/outfielder Garin Cecchini, and right-handed pitchers Heath Hembree and Zeke Spruill were optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket.

• Left-handed pitcher Henry Owens was reassigned to minor league camp.

• Right-handed pitcher Mitchell Boggs was released.

With these moves, the Red Sox now have 43 players in big league camp, including 32 players from the 40-man roster, and 11 non-roster invitees.
