Cooperstown, New York. This is the holy ground of the baseball world. In this quiet town lies the pantheon of baseball greatness that everybody that steps onto the diamond dreams of entering: The Baseball Hall of Fame. Ryan Fox - @Spider_Fox87 Last year in 2013, in a controversial move, nobody got the necessary 75% vote mark to get into the Hall of Fame. This was due to a majority of the Baseball Writers Association of America (BWAA) making a stance against many of the steroid users on the ballot (i.e. Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa). However in 2014, the BWAA was able to redeem themselves. This time around we have 6 people that got voted into the Hall of Fame. This includes 2 pitchers from an era where the Jewel of the South reigned supreme in the East, a big bat, and 3 of the greatest managers our young generation has seen.

Nothing puts a damper to your day like getting fired from your job. Just ask the likes of NFL Coaches like Jim Schwartz, Leslie Freizer, and Greg Schiano. But on the flip side, there's nothing like starting off the day right when you get that call from an NFL team to become their new head coach. Already we're into the new year and three NFL teams have found their new head coaches. johnny sunchips When the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers kickoff at 6:30 eastern on Sunday, make sure that wherever you are, watching the game, all your needs are at close range. This match up has all the makings of a good old fashioned rock fight and you surely do not want to miss a single play. These are undoubtedly the two best teams in the NFC. I know Carolina secured the number two seed in the conference, but the 12-4 'niners were more deserving of their five seed, and that showed last week on the road against the Panthers. Seattle has been arguably the best team in the entire league over the course of the campaign with just one loss at home, a week sixteen loss to a very good Arizona Cardinal team that didn't qualify for the post season, despite winning ten games. What's more, there is a genuine dislike between the players. After a week fourteen meeting in which San Francisco prevailed by a score of 19-17, the always outspoken Seattle defensive back Richard Sherman was quoted as calling the meeting no more than a "glorified practice". Bulletin board material? Perhaps. Here is how I see the contest... The Boston Celtics stopped their miserable nine game loosing streak at home Wed night against Toronto. For Boston, the win over the East leading Raptors was their 11th in a row against their Canadian rivals. Ironically the win came just hours after the C's announced another big trade, sending their most dependable scorer, Jamal Crawford out of town. Boston also returned Rajon Rondo to the active list as well yesterday. In fact there was no shortage of headlines at the Garden last night. Another football-filled show here on Psycho Sports, talking some NFL Conference Championship. Michael Parente and Johnny Sunchips are your radio duo with Scoop Fox working the boards. Joining the cast are 3x Super Champion former Pats RB Patrick Pass and Patriots Hall-of-Fame QB Steve Grogan to breakdown Pats v. Broncos. Then we squeeze in some informative Bruins talk with WBOB NHL guru Travis Barrett followed by a well in-depth breakdown of the NFC Conference Championship between San Francisco and Seattle with San Jose Mercury sportswriter Dan Brown. #Omaha Sunday's AFC championship game in Denver is being billed as another showdown between Hall of Fame quarterbacks Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, but it's the supporting cast members such as Broncos' tight end Julius Thomas (80) who could be the determining factor in the outcome of this highly-anticipated showdown. Everyone living outside of Colorado and New England is probably sick of the Peyton Manning-Tom Brady rivalry that will renew itself again for what seems like the millionth time in Sunday’s AFC championship game, sort of like how baseball fans through the years have grown tired of the Yankees-Red Sox border war and all the curses, ghosts and goblins riding shotgun. Ryan Fox What's orange, blue, white, and miserable? Give up? It's a Mets fan. Since the 2006 season, the Mets have become a laughing joke in Major League Baseball. Followed by two seasons of collapses, the Mets have been in the NL East basement. Every year has been a disappointment, every off season has been a disappointing. Yet as we get set for 2014, there seems to be a change in the air. The Pal, Michael Parente & Kevin Aherne cover it all. Joined by an All Star cast of writers the trio, discuss the college hardwoods, NFL playoffs, and ARod.
Kevin Aherne - KA@990WBOB.com It was the most predictable of outcomes.
When Major League Baseball handed down its 211-game suspension to maligned slugger Alex Rodriguez, it was generally understood that an appeal--and subsequent reduction--would follow. Johnny Sunchips There are athletes, that, when performing, you literally stop whatever it is you are doing to watch. If the Detroit Tigers Miguel Cabrera is in the batters box, you're glued to the television with anticipation. When the Pittsburgh Penguins Sidney Crosby is on the ice, you grab a seat to watch the magic he is about to weave with such grace and elegance, you swear everything around him was in slow motion. When the Miami Heat's LeBron James has the basketball, sitting down is not an option when he is about to do something on the court that has never been done before. From 1973 to 1986, when Ray Guy took the field for the Oakland Raiders, if you were fortunate enough to have the game televised in your area, you were always witnessing perfection. Who is Ray Guy, you ask? |
