So for your listening pleasure, here is Episode 63 of Psycho Sports. (Featuring Kevin Aherne, Mike Parente, and Chad Hoyle) Memorial Day is right around the corner which means we will be celebrating the unofficial start to summer 2013. For MLB this means we are about one quarter of the way thru the season. Now is as good a time as any to release my first edition of power rankings. I am putting these rankings together using team's win/loss records as well as the staying power I believe these top ten teams have. Let's get started... After Monday's great comeback the Bruins were back at it hosting the New York Rangers in game one of the second round Thursday evening. Could Boston get enough shots past King Henry to take game one at home and take a 1-0 lead over the Rangers? Or would the Bruins put themselves in position to lose game one at home? Yesterday, Soccer legend David Beckham announced his retirement, ending an illustrious 21 year career defined as much by his performance on the pitch as his high-profile celebrity lifestyle off it. Though never thought of as the strongest of footballers but recognized widely for his uncanny ability to manipulate ball movement, his contributions on various teams around the globe have cemented his legacy as the only player in any sport to win championships in four different countries. “It’s a good way to go out,” said Beckham... So for your listening pleasure, here is Episode 62 of Psycho Sports. (Featuring Kevin Aherne, Mike Parente, Chad Hoyle with guest: Vladine Biosse) With every new season comes an opportunity to witness some of the games newest players. In MLB, it is crucial for teams to build with homegrown players because of the current landscape of free agency. More teams are locking up their younger players even before they hit arbitration years to prevent them from becoming free agents sooner than later. Because of this, the free agent markets have been watered down over the past couple years thus making it very difficult to compete in free agency. No stranger to adversity, Tiger Woods overcame a hard-fought battle and staunch criticism from a perennial rival to take the win at the Players Championship this weekend at TPC Sawgrass.
Woods played a consistent game all tournament that benefited from an epic collapse by Sergio Garcia, his closest competition for the final 2 days and the most outspoken player regarding Tiger’s course etiquette. After having chances to put away Toronto in both game 5 and 6, the Bruins made it has difficult as it could get for themselves. Factor win a third game in 4 nights, an early morning flight from Toronto to Boston, and a 3th period 4-1 deficit and the Bruins appeared to be in checkmate. What would follow these events would be a comeback for the ages that launched the Bruins into a second round matchup with the New York Rangers. Only one phrase can describe the feeling in Boston right now, and that is "Boston Strong." |
