One of the most liked guys in the game. A family man, a holy man, a man's man. The complete opposite of every cliched scumbag named Canseco, or Bonds. The original good guy caught with a little dirty urine. 240 wins, 2251 strike outs was not enough. Many debate his worthiness to be enshrined in Cooperstown. His debate for retirement is over... at least for now. Andy Pettitte is pitching his way up through the Yankee farm system on his way to his first major league start since 2010. This is not just a feel good story, the Yanks need Pettitte. Freddy Garcia is off to a predictable destructible start posting an enormous 9.75 ERA after 3 starts, averaging just 4 innings per start. Nova has been impressive thus far in his brief major league career, but how long will that last? Phillip Hughes has looked almost completly unserviceable throwing beachball, volleyballs, basketballs, bacci balls... anything but strikes. It is not a matter of if Pettitte will be in the rotation, its a more a matter of who's heading to the pen? All thing being said, the end result is Andy Pettitte is once again or perhaps still a holy man, still a family man, and still a relevant lefty in the game. -Pal |
