Chipping Away: Johnny's 3 NFL Takeaways

New Orleans is 5-0 and with no other team in the NFC South having more than one win, have virtually clinched the division. On the other hand in the overrated NFC East, the 0-5 Giants are a mere two games behind in the race for their division title. It's uncanny to say the least.

Let's roll!

1) Can The Lions Ever Win Again in Green Bay?
December 15th, 1991: The last time the Detroit Lions last won a game in the State of Wisconsin. Rodney Peete was under center, and the great Barry Sanders was amidst his Hall of Fame career. During a three year span from 1992-1994, the games were played in Milwaukee, that aside, Detroit has not left Lambeau Field victorious since the "beeper" was in it's twilight. I find it amazing that in a game with as much parity as it has/has become, the Lions have not even stumbled across a win. Better luck next year!

2) Matt Schaub Should Remain at QB For The Texans.
I grant you that the Houston Texans are 2-2! Their Head Coach is on the hot seat! Matt Schaub throws a pick-six in almost every game (Six consecutive games, in fact, dating back to last year). But he still gives them the best chance to win. Backup T.J Yates is an unproven commodity. No resume yet to speak of. Schaub is a better passer and has a cohesiveness with the offense. Can he stop with the "deer in the headlights" play, not so sure, but he has a track record for success. Something the incumbent perhaps to be, does not.

3) Best Job In The NFL!
Denver Punter Britton Colquitt has the best job in football. After five games he is tied for last place with a total of fifteen punts. Make that four games! He did not punt once this past Sunday in Dallas! That gives him an average of just under four spirals per game. With the explosive offense the Broncos have, he is on pace to lineup roughly sixty times... all while making a mere $1.25 million. Not a bad paycheck! Of course Peyton and his "All-World unit" have to live up to their end of the bargain, but odds say they will! As for Colquitt, finishing last may very well be best!
