By Coach Hayes Ladies, Gentlemen, Boys, and Girls...Its time of year, so bust out your jerseys, your flags, and whatever you have to show dedication, passion, and obsession for your school... College football is Back! That's right! It is tailgate season and nobody does it better than college football. For three to four months, passion runs deep all over this great country for the great competition, rivalries, and just some down right old-fashioned fun. So get ready ladies and gentlemen, for the ride of your life. It is Labor Day weekend, and that means the start to a crazy passion-filled season with some of the best football available. Things kicked off on Thursday night with South Carolina beating up North Carolina; and USC departing Aloha Stadium with a victory over Hawai'i; a much-needed win coming back from their poor showing last year, closed out by laying an egg in Sun Bowl. Saturday is the day for the big boys to come out and play like champions. The first month of the season consists of non-conference games. In other words, cupcake teams are brought into play the powerhouses, and get paid. It can be good for those small schools, because these programs and their star players gain exposure on a National stage. Yes, most of the time they lose... badly. Sometimes however, a major upset occurs; like when Michigan lost to Appalachian State (FCS) in week one, in their own house. Kansas State kicked off their 2013 campaign with a loss to FCS school North Dakota State... so these upsets happen, but they are rare. So, college football fans, it is time to gear up for an exciting season filled with ups and downs. Can Alabama win a 3rd straight BCS title? Will Ohio State be the team to stop the SEC's of seven straight BCS Championships in the last year of the game before a playoff system is instituted next year? Can Johnny football reel it in and just play the game he loves? Who will be the next Heisman Trophy winner and from what school? And... will Lee Corso drop the "f-bomb" on live television again during Gameday Live? Who knows but its going to be a great season with lots of excitement and upsets. All this writer has to say is Go Buckeyes and lets get it started. O-H-I-O Editor's Note: We asked the author of this article which of these two QBs he would pick to start an NFL Playoff game for his team. Guess who he picked? Find out which one he picked by listening to the podcast of this Saturday's Psycho Sports... And tune in every Saturday for more ridiculous predictions!
